Its contest time again here at Lilja’s Library. This time it’s 5 copies of the US edition of Full Dark, No Stars that’s up for grabs. However, the contest will be a bit different this time…
For the next 5 days (Monday Nov. 28 – December 3rd) I will post a link here at the top of the site. The link will be named Contest Monday (the name of the day will change for each day) and when you see this link, all you need to do is click on it and send me that email that opens. You can add a comment if you like but that is not a must. Sounds too easy? Well, it is. There are two more things:
1) The link may appear any time between midnight and midnight the day after and will only be on the site for a short time, somewhere between 2 and 4 hours.
2) You will have to be the 10th person that sends me an email that day. I will count them in the order I receive them. The 10th mailer each day will be the winner.
Sounds like fun? Well, I hope so. And keep an eye here; the first link will appear within 24 hours and remember that you can keep an eye on the site with you phone as well…
Contest Monday (contest for Monday is over. Winner is Will Efson). Contest Tuseday (contest for Tuseday is over. Winner is Fran Anderson). Contest Wednesday (contest for Wednesday is over. Winner is Wendy Lang). Contest Thursday (contest for Thursday is over. Winner is Vicky Sing). Contest Friday (contest for Friday is over. Winner is Laurence Willson).
That ends this contest. Thanks to everyone that juined in.
Today a lot of people access the Internet through mobile phones, right? So, hopefully a lot of you are accessing Lilja’s Library through your phones and as you probably know not all sites work perfectly on a phone. So, because of that there is now a mobile phone version of Lilja’s Library. Most of it looks like when you enter the regular site but it’s been optimized for phones and that means that it’s been a bit trimmed down. Hopefully you’ll all find what you need though and hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as the regular site.
Oh, and if you use a smart phone there is also an icon for you if you want an easy way to access the site from your phone. Please check it out and let me know what you think about it through mail, on facebook or on twitter.
And the best thing is that you don’t have to remember a new address, just surf in to www.Liljas-Library.com with our phone and you’ll be directed to the mobile version of the site.
Thanks to Anders Jakobson for all his help with this.
In a new interview John Mellecamp had this to say about his collaboration with King:
Q: What's the status of this multimedia collaboration between you and author Stephen King, "Ghost Brothers of Darkland County?"
A: We've made a recording of all the songs, including ones sung by Kris Kristofferson, who plays the father; Elvis Costello, who plays the Devil; Rosanne Cash, who's the mother, and Sheryl Crow, who plays a ghost. They sang all the songs and T Bone produced the music.
It's the "Sgt. Pepper's" of Americana music. We did the dialogue and that includes Meg Ryan and Matthew McConaughey. We're putting it all together and are trying to get this staged in Atlanta during the spring or fall of next year. Liv Ullman, who was Ingmar Bergman's muse, will be directing. ...
This is a hell of an undertaking; just getting everybody together to read and sing is like putting kitties in a bag. Steve and I started working on it 10 years ago.
Tomorrow is the release day for Full Dark, No Stars but already people are reporting finding it in book stores. The last trailer, the one for my personal favorite in the collection A Good Marriage has been released (the male lead is actually played by the Swedish actor Tomas Norström) and here you can read my review of the book.
I just wanted to let you know that I have signed a bunch of books that are now on sale over at VeryFineBooks.com. I signed these exclusively for this bookshop and as far as signed books these are the only ones that you can buy at the moment.
Veryfinebooks has also agreed to includes free shipping (within the US) and a 30 day money back guarantee (don’t know why you would want to return it though :-) ).
2 days ago I told you about NBC's plans for The Dark Tower TV series and today it looks like the first movie is just about 2½ years away. From this article I got this:
And Ron Howard's first movie based on Stephen King's The Dark Tower has been scheduled for May 17, 2013.
Today I found an article called NBC - Full drama development slate for next season - almost all Fantasy/Sci-Fi and in it I found this interesting section:
DARK TOWER, THE: Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea. Roland is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange singlemindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape. The people he encounters are left behind, or worse—left dead. At a way station, however, he meets Jake, a boy from a particular time (1977) and a particular place (New York City), and soon the two are joined—khef, ka, and ka-tet. The mountains lie before them. So does the man in black and, somewhere far beyond...the Dark Tower.
Here is a Halloween Message from King posted on the official site:
"Science Fiction & Fantasy writer Neil Gaiman put a great idea up on Twitter a few days ago: 'This year make Halloween All Hallow's Read.' Neil suggests giving someone you love a scary book on the 31st. I think it's a great idea. It can be one of mine but it doesn't have to be. Have a great Halloween!"
This is only semi-King but I just have to tell you. On October 31st the TV station AMC premiers the new TV series The Walking Dead by Frank Darabont (hence the King connection) and I have had the fortune to see the first two episodes and please listen to me when I tell you that you don't want to miss this show. This will be a classic!
More info about the limited Full Dark, No Stars from Cemetert Dance:
"Full Dark, No Stars has sixteen pieces: 12 B&W printed in the book and 4 color glossy pieces that are hand-tipped."
Cemetery Dance just announced a limited version of Full Dark, No Stars that they are releasing later this year.
Cemetery Dance Publications is very pleased to announce our Deluxe Special Edition of Stephen King's chilling new collection of novellas. The tales in Full Dark, No Stars are bleak, featuring some of the darkest moments of any King work in recent memory, and we've brought together a team of five acclaimed artists to create nearly twenty exclusive illustrations including B&W pieces and glossy color tip-ins.
This fine collectible volume will be available in three editions printed in two colors on a high-quality paper, and the oversized Collector's Gift Edition will be issued with the smallest print run of any Stephen King Gift Edition since we published From a Buick 8 in 2002. As many collectors know, that was one of the rare Gift Editions to sell out before publication and to go up in value significantly over the years.
Secretly rolling at the printer since September and on schedule to ship at the end of the year, the Cemetery Dance Deluxe Special Edition of Full Dark, No Stars will be the perfect addition to any Stephen King collection. We don't expect any of our editions to last very long given the low print runs, so don't wait to place your order or you might miss out!

I got a mail from Shawn over at and he told me that he is seeing Robin Furth next week for a video interview.
And because of this he wants to give you, King and Dark Tower fans the chance to get your questions answered. And to do that, just send an email with your question to shawn@signedpage.com.
Here is my review of the Dollar Baby The Boogeyman. If you get a chace you can check it out at The Horrorthon Film Festival in Dublin, Irland on October 25th.

I did a short interview for Cemetery Dance's newsletter some time ago. Today it was published. If you don't get the newsletter you can also check it out here.
According to the USA Today review of American Vampire, King is toying with another comic book idea called Afterlife. "It's something I'd like to try," he says. "But then on the other hand, I'd also like to learn how to be a gourmet cook, so who knows?"
