For the first time ever, we will be able to read an excerpt from The Cannibals on September 15th. This is the story which originally inspired Under the Dome and it will be posted on StephenKing.com.
Also, don't forget that Scribner begins its promotion campaign for Under the Dome on September 15th. Many special features are in the works.
The signed collector's edition of Under the Dome will also be going on sale September 15th and will only be available through Simon & Schuster (limited to U.S. orders only).
I got a chance to check out the book Artists Inspired by Stephen King and I’m very impressed with what I saw. There are illustrations and covers that I didn’t even know excised and also interviews and information from and about a lot of illustrators connected to King’s work. One that stood out a little extra was Bernie Wrightson talking about a very scary dream he had as a kid. I was also honored to see that they had included a passage from one of my interviews with King in the book. A regular review will be published on the site soon.
King's latest column is called What's Next For Pop Culture? It starts:
"Because I love the culture I write about, these columns are usually lighthearted. Not this time."
It is not yet online.
Also, EW has started up a new section called "The $ave", which recommends things based on how much money you have. In this week's issue it has this:
$20
Stephen King says...
"I would go see the horror movie Carriers. Six bucks. A medium popcorn (lots of butter), Junior Mints, and Diet Pepsi can be had for an additional $12.50. A fine time, and a dollar left over for an instant-scratch lottery ticket. If my wife wants to come with me (doubtful, considering the subject matter), we'd share a small popcorn and Coke. For love, I can economize."
Dread Central just reported the following:
After tackling Clive Barker's work with The Midnight Meat Train director Ryuhei Kitamura is now moving on to another literary genius ... Stephen King as Our Thing Productions is readying a live action adaptation of the Nightmares and Dreamscapes zombie tale, Home Delivery.
Paul Buckholts of Our Thing dropped us a line with the following tidbits of news to share with you: "My twin brother John and I optioned the film rights and have adapted Stephen King’s zombie short story HOME DELIVERY (from Nightmares and Dreamscapes). Visionary Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train) is attached to direct.
Amazon.com has The Fall of Gilead and American Nightmare listed in hardback now. The dates hasn't been confirmed by Marvel but here is what Amazon says:
The Dark Tower : The Fall of Gilead HC
Release Date: March 9, 2010
The Stand : American Nightmare
Release Date: January 6, 2010
Ehren Kruger has been hired to pen a new adaptation of Stephen King’s Children of the Corn tale, which has already inspired the 1984 New World release, several Dimension-issued sequels and a redux that hits the Syfy channel and DVD this fall.
“We felt the New World film was a missed opportunity,” Dimension topper Bob Weinstein tells Variety. “If you read the short story, it’s got such a strong feeling to it and there’s this religious overtone to it as well. Ehren wants to hit it hard. It’s popular in Hollywood to say you’re re-envisioning a project, but a lot of the time they’re just carbon copying the original. We are bringing something new to the story.”

The moderator of King's board had the following to say about the third Talisman book:
Steve told me this morning that he and Peter are looking at starting this in two years as that's about how long it will take each of them to clear their schedules of the projects they are working on now.
Here's the plan for revealing the cover for Under the Dome UNDER THE DOME – Cover Reveal Copy
The jacket concept for UNDER THE DOME originated as an ambitious idea from the mind of Stephen King. The artwork is a combination of photographs, illustration, and 3-D rendering. This is a departure from the direction of King’s most recent, illustrated covers.
In order to achieve the arresting image for this jacket, Scribner art director Rex Bonomelli had to seek out artists who could do a convincing job of creating a realistic portrayal of the town of Chester’s Mill, the setting of the novel. Bonomelli found the perfect team of digital artists, based in South America and New York, whose cutting edge work had previously been devoted to advertisement campaigns. This was their first book jacket and an exciting venture for them. “They are used to working with the demands of corporate clients,” says Bonomelli. “We gave them freedom and are thrilled with what they came up with.”
This CGI (computer generated imagery) enhanced image looks more like something made for the big screen than for the page and is sure to make a lasting impact on King fans.
The multiple elements of this jacket art lend themselves perfectly to a unique, four-part jacket reveal campaign. The first aspect will be unveiled on September 21, followed by the release of additional images on September 25 and September 28, and culminating with the full reveal on October 5, when the world will see that everything is UNDER THE DOME.
Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster

Here is the variant cover for issue #1 of The Road of Trials. It's being released on November 18, 2009.
Del Rey Comics announced exclusively to Newsarama Thursday that they've secured Mike "Gabe" Krahulik, one-half of the team behind the very popular Penny Arcade webcomic, to provide a special variant cover to the publisher's October-debuting adaptation of the Stephen King-Peter Straub novel The Talisman, and Newsarama has a special exclusive preview of the cover.
The latest Children of the Corn is soon here:
Anchor Bay Entertainment has set an October 6 DVD street date for the remake of CHILDREN OF THE CORN that debuts this fall on the Syfy channel. Fango managed to snag a first look at the cover art, which you can see below.
Written and directed by Donald P. Borchers (who produced the 1984 CHILDREN feature), the latest adaptation of the Stephen King short story premieres on Syfy Saturday, September 26 at 9 p.m. David Anders and Kandyse McClure star as Burt and Vicki, the couple whose road trip leads them into a remote town populated by religious-fanatic kids led by Malachai (Daniel Newman) and Isaac (Preston Bailey). (ORPHAN’s Isabelle Fuhrman apparently does a voice in the movie.) Full specs for the DVD, which retails for $26.97 ($18.99 Amazon as of this post), are coming soon.

Not yet. I got an email over the weekend letting us know that the only place the signed edition will be sold is through Scribner's web site but they weren't set up yet to take pre-orders. The unsigned collector's edition can be pre-ordered now, though.
I spoke to Scibner and it dosn't look like they will be able to sell to customers outside the US (this might change though)...
