Some time ago I said that when the Lilja’s Library Facebook group reached 1,000 members I’d do a contest for the members of the group. Well, 1,000 have come and gone and now it’s time for the contest. On August 9, the same day my book is released, I will draw one lucky member who will receive a copy of my book Lilja’s Library – The World of Stephen King for free (signed if you so desire). All you have to do is be a member of the group on August 9 and you’ll be in the running. So, if you’re not a member yet, join now.

Latest on Ghost Brothers of Darkland County

Here are the latest news about Ghost Brothers of Darkland County:

Mellencamp and Stephen King continue to work on their stage musical, "Ghost Brothers of Darkland County." The two recently hired a new director, award-winning actress Liv Ullman, who plans to start revising the script with King in January and work through 2011 on the production. Meanwhile, Burnett has been recording an album of Mellencamp's songs for the project with Kris Kristofferson, Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello, Ryan Bingham and the Blasters' Phil and Dave Alvin voicing the characters — but not Mellencamp.

"I got fired," he said with a laugh. "Whenever I talk to T-Bone, I go, 'Remember the time you fired me?' He goes, 'I didn't fire you — you quit.' I say, 'No, you fired me, man. I remember.' I'm spotty at best, I guess."

King supports Haven

US TV reports that King is supporting Haven.

Haven producer Shawn Piller has revealed that Stephen King is supporting the project.

The upcoming Syfy series is based on King's novella The Colorado Kid and Piller explained that the author has been heavily involved in the adaptation.

"Stephen King has been very supportive," he told TV Squad. "Because of our experience with The Dead Zone and how we treated that project, and because of him being a fan of Lost and those type of shows, I think he was excited about this little novella he wrote being turned into a series."

Piller added: "He's approved every step along the way. If you're offending a writer, you're doing something they wouldn't do. And if you're p*ssing off the writer, the fans aren't going to like it."

However, cast member Emily Rose explained that the show does not stick to the book completely.

"We're not taking The Colorado Kid 100% literally," she said. "We're using that world as a greenhouse for all these other stories to take place. King created the stage on which we perform."

Haven will premiere on July 9 at 10/9c on Syfy.

If you have read my reviews of The Stand comics you already know that I’m a big fan of it. I love Mike Perkins and Laura Martin’s work on it and you can probably understand how excited I got when both Mike and Laura agreed to do a short comic strip about my upcoming book.

Since then I have seen some working versions of it and about a week ago I got the finished version (see below) and I don’t know about you but I’m extremely impressed with it! So, let me present Mike Perkins and Laura Martin’s original Lilja’s Library: The Comic!

Descriptions of Haven episode

Here's descriptions of the first four episodes of Haven:

Episode 1.01 - Welcome to Haven
When FBI Agent Audrey Parker is called to Haven, Maine on a routine case, she finds her assignment has been killed in unexplainable fashion. When strange weather phenomena begin to strike the town – and Audrey – she begins to suspect that not everything is as it seems in Haven. As the weather events grow more destructive, Audrey discovers that someone in town might be more connected to the incidents than she could possibly imagine.

Episode 1.02 - Consumed
Audrey remains in Haven to follow up on a clue to her own orphan past – an old photo from the local newspaper, of the infamous “Colorado Kid” crime scene, reveals a woman who could be her mother. But Audrey stumbles upon another mysterious event in town, when food, fields, and even livestock around Haven all begin to die, and she joins with Nathan to investigate what the source of the epidemic could be – and what’s really happening in this extraordinary place.

Episode 1.03 - Butterfly
While Audrey tries to settle in as a Haven local and as a new police officer in town, she and Nathan investigate the seemingly random destruction of a local bar. When other strange events begin to occur – even targeting Audrey herself – they must race to figure what the connection could be, and what or who might be making them happen.

Episode 1.04 - Ball and Chain
Audrey and Nathan investigate an upheaval at the local psychiatric hospital – where something happened to make the patients normal for a time, but sent their doctor into madness. As they track down the escaped patients, Audrey and Nathan discover that whatever caused the temporary reversal has begun to spill across all of Haven – making normal townspeople go dangerously insane.

King and Mellencamp want Liv Ullman

Swedish press reports today that Liv Ullmann may soon be employed by King and Mellencamp. In January the final decision about whether she will be directing Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will be taken.

Ullman said it’s not really her world but that King and Mellencamp said she was supposed to be directing it.

They wanted us to work on it during the summer, but I can’t, so I said maybe they should get another director. And they said "absolutely not", and suggested that we should meet in January to make the final decision instead, "said Liv Ullmann, who seems flattered by the request:

- I feel very honored that they chose me. It's incredibly fun.
