King On The Set Of Lisey's Story

Posted: March 13, 2020, 08:44
_
Dane DeHaan (ZeroZeroZero) talks about his part in Lisey’s Story and also confirms that King has been quite a lot on the set of the movie in this interview with Collider.

You’re also doing Lisey’s Story, which is a Stephen King story where Stephen King has written all of the scripts. How exciting is it to read and bring to life scripts that were actually written by such a visual storyteller?

DeHAAN: It’s been really great. He’s on set a lot. He’s very into what we’re doing and the experience. It’s also fun to help to sometimes craft it with him. He’s writing extra things. Pablo Larraín, the director, has a very clear vision, and there’s a real collaboration going on that wouldn’t be possible, otherwise. He’s such a big deal that what he writes is so holy that, in order to really collaborate or change things sometimes, it feels better having him there and having his blessing and knowing that he’s happy with it. It’s been really fun. It seems like we’re making something really cool.

Emily Hampshire is cast as the female lead opposite Adrien Brody in Chapelwaite, Epix’s new drama series based on King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot. Chapelwaite is set to begin production in Halifax, Nova Scotia in April with an eye towards a Fall 2020 premiere.

Set in the 1850s, the series follows Captain Charles Boone (Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.

Hampshire will play Rebecca Morgan, an ambitious young woman who left Preacher’s Corners to attend Mount Holyoke College, and has returned home with an advance to write a story for the new and prestigious Atlantic Magazine. Her writer’s block lifts when Boone (Brody) arrives in town with his children, and despite her mother’s protests, Rebecca applies to be governess of the infamous Chapelwaite manor and the Boone family in order to write about them. In doing so, Rebecca will not only craft the next great gothic novel, she’ll unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for years.

This past weekend, Quinnipiac’s black box theater transformed into a 1970s classroom not only for its cast but also its audience. For just over two hours, the Quinnipiac theater department took the crowd hostage as it debuted Rage, an original play based off a Richard Bachman (King) novel of the same name, as well as another King work titled, Guns.

It would make a hell of a murder weapon, wouldn’t it?

Here is another photo from Audie Awards.

In his introduction Hill said:
Stephen King is the best damn ambassador for audiobooks anyone could ever wish or hope for. His love for the form goes back decades. I know. I was there.

And King joked when accepting the award:
it would make a hell of a murder weapon, wouldn’t it?” He added: “I listen to my own books –the reason why is because you can hear everything you did right and everything you did wrong. This is the most honorable form of storytelling there is.

Stephen King was given the Audio Publishers Association’s (APA) Lifetime Achievement Award by Hill and The Institute (narrated by Santino Fontana) won the Thriller and Suspense category. Hill’s Full Throttle won for Best Collection.

Why Abrams & Lindelof Didn’t Do The Dark Tower

Screenrant writes about why JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof never did The Dark Tower.

Abrams and Lindelof were exhausted after Lost and didn't want to take the time to make The Dark Tower, but that might say more about The Dark Tower than it does Lost. The Dark Tower series was finished, everything was laid out and ready to go, but the two biggest creators in town didn't want to take the job.

Could There Be A Season 2 Of The Outsider?

Posted: February 14, 2020, 22:08

Here is an interview with Richard Price about The Outsider where he also hints that there might be a second season.

There’s no telling if “The Outsider” will end like the book or on its own terms (further episodes have not been screened for critics), but Price is already planning for the future. He said he was already working on Season 2 when IndieWire spoke to him in January.

“It’s like pulling a rabbit out of a glass hat — of course there will be another [if HBO wants one],” Price said. “There’s no such thing as a series that, if it does well, they’re not going to want a second season.”

Could a second season be based on the Holly story in If it Bleeds?

The Stand Filming In Ashcroft

Posted: February 14, 2020, 07:44
_
The Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal reports that The Stand will be filming in the area.

Victoria Weller says that a crew producing a TV miniseries based on Stephen King’s The Stand will be moving into the region before the Twilight Zone set is struck, to film on Cornwall Road, Highway 97C, the Ashcroft Reserve, and in downtown Ashcroft for one scene which, like The Twilight Zone, will require a blackout for several hours in the 4th and Brink Street area.
Weller says that The Stand will be followed by the TV series Resident Alien. The film commissioner says that she is hoping that the Project Blue Book TV series will return, and that another TV series, Van Helsing, is looking into the area.

So, if you’re in the area, keep your camera ready…

Is Lisey's Story The Same As Faces?

Posted: February 10, 2020, 10:50
_
The Playlist reports that Darius Khondji is going back to TV with a show for Apple TV+ directed by Pablo Larraín, based on King’s Lisey’s Story that now apparently is titled Faces.

They also claim that other sources state that Faces and Lisey’s Story are one and the same; the same Apple TV series. It’s not clear why the title has change (it could just be a working title) but they are certain that it’s an adaptation of Lisey’s Story.

More news to come as it’s released…

My Thoughts On Locke & Key

Here are my thoughts on Joe Hill's Locke & Key premiering on Netflix today.

Locke & Key is totally my kind of show. I love the setting, I love the story and I love the idea of being able to use a specific key for a specific purpose. The special effects are great, and I just love the sound the lock makes when they turn the key.

“I’m playing Rat Man… do you guys remember Rat Man? Rat Man is now Rat Woman,” Dourif told the outlet. “I read the book and watched the miniseries. I love The Stand.”

Work Has Started On Season 2 Of Locke & Key

Locke & Key by Joe Hill is soon here. On February 7 you will be able to see the entire 10 episode season 1 on Netflix. I got the opertunity to see it early and I liked it a lot. Today I was really happy to hear that work on season 2 has already begun even though it hasn’t been greenlit yet.

I also watched the FOX pilot and even thought it was good it’s noting compared to Netflix’s version. Hulu was also going to adapt the comic before Netflix and rumor has it that they actually did a pilot but so far no evidence have appeared that proves that it was actually done. If anyone know differently please let me know.
