Jonathan Havird worked as an extra on season two of Mr. Mercedes and I got a chance to sit down with him and talk about what it means to be an extra in a TV show. Here is what he had to say.
A group of fans at CCXP in Brazil were lucky enough to see some new footage from the second IT movie and here is a report about what they saw.
"Thankfully, they did share a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel, which looked like the type of video a studio would share with promotional partners to get them excited about the sequel. In the video, we saw director Andy Muschietti talk about what he hopes to accomplish with the anticipated sequel, saying it will be serious, more intense, and have scarier moments. The video also showed some pre-production artwork, including the different departments working on the film.
"Another part of the video showed new cast members Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, and others talking about what the film is about. There wasn’t much footage from the film, but we did see a shot of the cast together walking across a bridge.
"My favorite part, however, was some video from the very first table read. While we didn’t get to see the cast reading any lines, the video showed this massive table with every cast member listed getting ready to read the script."
Looks like HBO will turn The Outsider into a 10-episode limited series. Ben Mendelsohn is set to star and produce and Jason Bateman is set to direct the first two episodes.
HBO has given a series order to supernatural drama The Outsider, based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, with Ben Mendelsohn set to star and produce. The project, which marks Mendelsohn’s return to TV following his Emmy-winning turn on Bloodline, hails from The Night Of co-creator/executive producer Richard Price, director-producer Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes) Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films, Temple Hill Entertainment and MRC. Ozark star/director/executive producer Bateman is set to direct the first two episodes of The Outsider and may guest star.
In this episode, I'm joined by writer Stephen Spignesi to review Stephen King's latest book - Elevation. Check out Stephen's latest book: Stephen King - American Master.
Also, I review the last 4 episodes of Season 2 of Mr Mercedes and propose a wild-assed theory about what the now confirmed Season 3 of Mr Mercedes could be about. Check it out and tell me how crazy I am!
Hope you enjoy this episode and, as usual, I want to hear from you.
Good or bad, I want it all!

Here is the second part of Jason Sechrest's interview with Bill Thomspon (you can read the first part here).
It’s interesting to hear what Thompson said about The Blue Air Compressor (now released in Shining in the Dark) back in 1977. The Blue Air Compressor - It’s precious author talk for one thing and also distasteful. It doesn’t come close to being a take-off of horror fiction. Let’s keep it in the drawer.
AT&T Audience Network has ordered a 10-episode third season of Mr. Mercedes from Sonar Entertainment. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina with the premiere launching later in the year. No word on if it will be an adaptation of Finders Keepers or something new.
In this episode a look at Gerald's Game director, Mike Flanagan's Filmography.
With the recent success of Flanagan's reimagining of Shirley Jackson's - The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix, it's hard not to become over-excited for what he may have in store for Dr. Sleep.

Mary Lambert is restoring and remastering her original film adaptation of Pet Sematary. A couple of days ago she announced via social media that she’s been hard at work with the studio to create a high-definition version of the movie.
Bloody Disgusting reports that child actor, Jacob Tremblay has been cast in an unknown role for the upcoming Doctor Sleep. Maybe he'll be playing a young Danny Torrance, in flashbacks?
EW reports that Hard Case Crime will release (June 2019) a new edition of The Colorado Kid with new cover and illustrations.
EW can exclusively announce that Stephen King’s best-selling mystery novel — and inspiration for the TV series Haven — is headed back to bookstores for the first time in 10 years, in a brand-new illustrated edition. The novel has been out of print for a decade; the re-release will feature 20 new interior illustrations by a stellar range of artists.

Someone asked what's next now that Elevation is out and the answer from the moderator of King's official board was this exciting news:
Yes, my understanding is that it's planned for a release in (US) autumn 2019. I can't reveal the title or any other details at this time, though, as no official announcement has been made. The book is already written and may have gone through the final edits--that part I don't have up-to-date information about.
How excited are you about a new King book in the fall of 2019? Comment bellow!
The latest book to be turned into a TV series seems to be Joyland. Bloody Disgusting reports that this will be done by Freeform. No details about how many episodes yet but Chris Peña (Jane the Virgin) and Cyrus Nowrasteh (The Stoning of Soraya M.) will write the pilot and produce. Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions (Valor) will exec produce.
The contest is over and three winners (who will each get a copy of the UK edition of Elevation) has been selected. Before I reveal who they are I want to thank you all for telling me how you found Lilja’s Library. Some did it many years ago and others just days ago but I’m so happy and proud that you all tune in to read what I write. Thanks!
And now the winners… Rolf Nilsson, Roselyn Levita and Stephen Edwards. Congratulations you will each get a copy of the UK edition of Elevation.
Here are my thoughts on Elevation.
I really like Elevation. It’s a sad book but to be honest, that is how I want my books, at least sometime. It makes them interesting when everything isn’t always fixed and put right. It’s the way life is. Sometime life hits you where it hurts and this time it happens in King’s story.
And the fact that King himself narrates the audio book is the icing on the cake.
A revised version of Stephen King and John Mellencamp’s Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will be available for stock and amateur licensing in 2019.
Broadway Licensing is working with Stephen King and John Mellencamp to develop a new version of their musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County for worldwide licensing, which will be made available in 2019.
The Gothic southern musical, which premiered in 2012 at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, explores a decades-old tragedy that haunts the population of a small town. Grammy winner Mellencamp (“Pink Houses,” “Jack and Diane,” “Small Town”) penned the score, while Carrie, Misery, and The Shining novelist King wrote the book.
A studio album of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, recorded in 2010, was released from Hear Records/Concord Records Group. The musical also played a limited concert tour.
“This is terrific news. I loved working with John Mellencamp, and the ghostly result is one of my most proud accomplishments,” King said in a statement.
Mellencamp added, “When Steve and I decided to mount a musical… neither of us knew what we were doing. We learned on the job. I have never had so much fun or laughed so hard in my life.”
In less than two weeks King’s new book Elevation will be released. It’s a wonderful but also somewhat sad book but I know you will love it. I sure do.
Hodder & Stoughton have given me three copies to give to you. All you need to do is email me before October 29th and tell me where and when you first heard about Lilja’s Library. I will then pick three random winners.
Here are my thoughts about the ninth episode of season 2 of Mr. Mercedes.
They now have one episode to convince me that they have taken the right path when they decided to not use Finders Keepers. So far, I’m not convinced.
Hodder & Stoughton is celebrating King's 71st birthday by re-releasing four of his books in new editions. They gave me three sets of the books to give away and here are the winners:
Matthew Wilson, Stephen Clutterham and Shaun Chidgey. Congratulations!
The correct answers were:
Q1: Place the titles above in cronological order A1: The Shining, Christine, Bag of Bones, Cell.
Q2: Have all the titles above been filmed? A2: Yes
Q3: What is the title of this fall's King book? A3: Elevation
Here are my thoughts about the eight episode of season 2 of Mr. Mercedes.
It’s interesting that even though Bill is in quite a lot of pain he still chooses to half lay half sit on the couch to sleep. Seems like a bed would be much more comfortable.
AMC’s Eli Roth seven-part event series, History of Horror, begins Sunday, October 14th. I have seen the first three episodes and it's a great show. Among the people being interviewed we find King and Joe Hill. Don't miss it!
A bittersweet episode as Hans is stepping down from his regular co-host duties on the podcast.
Fear not, I will continue with the podcast. Not sure what the podcast will look like going forward. Maybe I'll run it solo. Maybe I'll look at bringing in guest cohosts. Maybe a little of both. Either way, the podcast will continue!

Looks like the Creepshow TV series will have stories by King and Joe Hill. Here is what show runner Greg Nicotero said.
Nicotero participated in the the Shudder Panel at the annual New York Comic Con on Thursday, revealing further details about the series, including many of the writers whose stories will be adapted for the six part anthology series including Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Joe Lansdale among others.
Here are my thoughts about the seventh episode of season 2 of Mr. Mercedes.
I like Dr. Babineau but his wife I don’t really care for. She is a very flat character that you don’t like or dislike (even if it’s more of the later). You just don’t care about her.
Here is an interesting interview that Bloody Disgusting did with Mike Flanagan about the upcoming adaptation of Doctor Sleep. In it he mentions that he got in touch with the original Danny Torrance actor Danny Lloyd but not what that lead to.
He also mentions that the movie will acknowledge Kubrick’s The Shining. it’s not clear exactly what that means though.
“Yeah, I think you do,” Flanagan said. “I think you do have to acknowledge that. There is no version of the world where I am trying not to acknowledge one of the greatest films ever made. There’s no upside in shying away from that reality.”
How do you feel about that? Good? Bad? Comment bellow!
