Has Mr. Mercedes & Revival gotten a release date?

On a question over at Stephen King’s message board about if King has finished editing Mr. Mercedes or completed the first draft of Revival the moderator gave the following answer:

He's waiting for the editors to do their thing. Release dates have been set but I don't think I'm at liberty to give that information out yet

So, both books seems to have a release date set. Do we dare to hope for 2014?

Stephen & Owen King

Posted: October 25, 2013, 08:53

Stephen King -- the one-man fear factory responsible for terrifying tomes like Carrie, Salem's Lot and The Shining -- is also dear old dad in a family of scribes. He and his youngest son, Owen King, may be bound by blood, but in many ways they inhabit very different kingdoms.

The older King is the highly-decorated, prolific master of modern horror. His latest book, Doctor Sleep, builds a story he unleashed upon the world in 1977.

That same year, the younger King was born. He's since grown up to become his father's fresh-eyed editor, and is just beginning his own career with his humorous book Double Feature. And unlike his older brother, who writes under the pen name Joe Hill, Owen has decided to wear his famous name. But heavy is the head that wears the crown.

"I could write something about coal miners in West Virginia and people would be like, 'Is your father the mine?'" joked Owen.

Jian chats with the Kings about their individual projects, their father-son relationship, and the thin line between horror and humour.

"Owen is also writing horror. It's just got this big smile on its face," said Stephen.

Here is a first look at a new short film based on King's Gray Matter starring Larry Fessenden. The film is done using all practical FX such as matte paintings, animatronics, puppets and so on. It's directed by Red Clark and we also see Aaron Christensen, Scott Lynch-Giddings, Steve Herson, and Kenneth Martin.

The movie will be playing at festivals later this year. More info over on the Gray Matter Facebook page.

Cell posters

Based on the story by Stephen King, Bloody Disgusting now have three sales posters for Cell, which will be on display at next month’s American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA.

“When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users’ minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected “phoners.””

John Cusack is starring, with Paranormal Activity 2‘s Tod “Kip” Williams directing. The film is still in pre-production.

What do you think about these posters? Good? Bad?

And the Winner is!

I have finally been able to select a winner in the photo contest (with a copy of Cemetery Dance's Gift Edition of Doctor Sleep as the prize). It wasn’t easy to select a winner of the 85 entries but I did and her name is Egle Chesters. I just love her photo. It shows she put some effort in it, that her family supports her love for King and most important of it all, her new husband supports her love for King.

Here is her description of the photo:

I got married on 23rd July 2013 but I couldn't have my big day without a bit of Stephen! Pictured is my first dance featuring my new husband, myself and the real love of my life Stephen's Night Shift! :)

Congratulations Egle!

Stephen and Owen reading

On September 24 Stephen and Owen King did a reading and here is a description of what happened, along with a photo.

First Owen read from Doctor Sleep, than King read from Double Feature. After that Owen asked Stephen some questions from a Stephen King Trivia book. Not sure which one but Owen said he found it a used book store so it was probably old [probably one by Stephen Spignesi]. Stephen asked Owen some questions after that. Next they each read a bit from their own books and it ended with a few question cards from the audience.

Here is all info you need about the signing in Paris November 13.

Stephen will be doing a book signing on Wednesday the 13th of November from 13:00 till 15:00 at MK2 Bibliothéque, 128-162 Avenue due France, 75013 Paris. This will not be a ticketed event and will be on a first-come, first-served basis so we, therefore, cannot guarantee that all who attend will be able to have a book signed if there are still fans waiting in line after 15:00. To accommodate as many fans as possible, there will be a one book per person limit. Fans may either bring the one book from their personal collection or purchase a book from MK2 at the event.

Sounds to me that you'll need to be there early if you want a signes book!

About the Book:
For fifty years, Stephen King has thrilled audiences with his novels, stories, and nonfiction. He has traveled to some odd places, both in his fiction and in the sometimes stranger world of publishing. A Good Story and Good Words jaunts into these many worlds, including:

* a guide to King's writing in the years before Carrie
* a history of how King's novels became bestsellers
* in-depth analyses of every book King has ever written
* how technology has impacted and interpreted King's work, from video games like The Mist to eBook exclusives like "Mile 81" and "Ur"
* a guided tour of King's comics, from Creepshow to The Dark Tower and American Vampire
* information on unpublished, uncollected, and hard-to-find Stephen King short stories and poems
* essays on King at the movies, King on audio, and a whole lot more!

They are Bill Sim, Audrey McAllen and Tom Gustavsson. They all get it for their posting on the twitter, facebook and email. They were all very helpful in getting me info about Doctor Sleep in one way or another, both the book and the tour and since Doctor Sleep is the hottest thing since sliced bread about now I crown them the winners of the audio editions. Thanks to you!

However, if you are not one of these lucky winners you can still get a copy of the book for free. Here is how:

Mister Mercedes too creepy?

Mister Mercedes is mentioned in an article about King and Doctor Sleep in USAToday.

Next for King is a non-supernatural suspense novel, Mister Mercedes, about a deranged terrorist with a bomb. He says he began it before the Boston Marathon bombing, but it's "too creepily close for comfort."
