Bradenton Herald reports that King will do a book signing in Sarasota.
Stephen King will be at the shop starting at 2 p.m. March 15 to sign copies of his latest book, “End of Watch.”
There are some pretty strict rules about King’s book singing. You have to buy the book at Bookstore 1, and you can’t bring any other book or any piece of memorabilia for him to sign.
“End of Watch” is on sale now, and when you buy it at Bookstore 1, you’ll get a ticket to bring back on March 15. The ticket will reserve your place in line.
Here are two more behind the scenes photos from Mr Mercedes and while the second might be hard to place there should be no doubt what scene is being filmed in the first if you have read the book and also seen the photo I posted yesterday.
Castle Rock is a 10-episode drama from writers and exec producers Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason (Manhattan). It's described as an ongoing series, though sources tell THR that it's more of an anthology that will weave together characters and themes from King's novels featuring the mysterious Castle Rock location. Each season, sources say, will follow a different set of characters and storylines while interjecting themes and specific characters from previous seasons.
Logline:
Here's how Hulu describes the series: "A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
Production team:
Castle Rock is based on characters and situations created by King. Shaw and Thomason developed the project for television and executive produce alongside Abrams and Bad Robot Productions' Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. The series is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Cast:
No castings have been announced yet.
When:
A premiere date/time period is unclear. Production will begin this year.
How much do you know about King’s fictional town Castle Rock? Well, I did some research and found this that might be good to know with the upcoming King/Chizmar collaboration and the Hulu series.
Castle Rock is located 37 miles from Portland and 180 miles from Boston. The town’s population was 1,280 in 1959 and 1,500 in 1991. No more recent number has been found.
King wrote six books that takes place in the town. They are, in publication order: The Dead Zone (1979), Cujo (1981), The Dark Half (1989), Needful Things (1991), Bag of Bones (1998) and Lisey's Story (2006).
King has also written some short stories that takes place in Castle Rock. They are, in publication order: The Body (1982), It Grows On You (1982), Uncle Otto's Truck (1985), The Sun Dog (1990), The Man in the Black Suit (1997) and Premium Harmony (2015)
There has also been a lot of reference to Castle Rock in King’s works throughout the years. Here they are in publication order: Graveyard Shift (1978), One on One (1978), The Stand (1978), Creepshow (1982), Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption (1982), Pet Sematary (1983), Gramma (1985), Mrs. Todd's Shortcut (1985), Nona (1985), The Mist (1985), It (1986), Gerald's Game (1992), The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (1999), Riding the Bullet (2000), Kingdom Hospital (2004), N. (2008), Under the Dome (2009), A Good Marriage (2010) and Dr. Sleep (2013).
There have also been numerous characters living in Castle Rock during the years and here are some that you should recognize. They may or may not show up in the new work but they will probably be referred to in some way…

J.J. Abrams will executive-produce a new King-inspired original series, Castle Rock, coming soon to Hulu from Abrams’ Bad Robot production company. Abrams announced the series on Friday via a cryptic tweet:
We also got this teaser...
I don't know about you but I'm excited! Stay tuned for more info.
Okezie Morro in the sound booth for some additional dialogue recording for The Mist. He also mentioned that he got a sneak peek of episode 5 & 7 and liked what he saw...
Filming of Mr Mercedes was done at Little Jack's on Wednesday.
Film crews took over Upper King Street restaurant Little Jack's Tavern today to film the TV adaptation of Stephen King's crime series 'Mr Mercedes.'
The cozy throwback-themed restaurant had a new sign up reading "Demasio's Lunch + Dinner," which evokes images of family-owned Italian joint. (This is a hard boiled detective story, after all.)
The crews chose a good rainy day to shoot, since the set included spouts for staged rain. Props and lighting was also set up alongside the forthcoming Pancito and Lefty building.
Police directing traffic said that shooting was set to continue into late afternoon. Little Jack's Tavern said they were closed for today only for filming.
Richard Chizmar gave us this update on the novella he has written with King:
Regarding the novella I recently finished writing with Stephen King...
I can't tell you the title yet. I can't tell you the plot synopsis. And I can't tell you publication details. But I can tell you that readers will soon be heading back to a small town in Maine called Castle Rock.
Now you can listen to the song from the trailer to The Dark Tower on Spotify or Amazon.
So, what does this mean? That a trailer will soon be out? Hopefully but we really don't know. It is about time though. Keep checking back and we'll update you when we know more.
Many people in Charleston have posted about production crews in the area over the last few weeks.
“I think people, for the most part, enjoy these productions,” said Linda Lee, President of the Carolina Film Alliance. “It brings money into the community, certainly the neighborhoods where they’re actually being filmed.”
Thursday Beau Schuling, the publicist for the production, said crews will be filming in the greater Charleston area through May.
Schuling said filming is happening at sites all over area including Wagener Terrace/Hampton Park, Park Circle, the Cooper River Pier, and the International Longshoremen’s Association Hall on Morrison Drive.
One of the major production sites is in Goose Creek off of Red Bank Road.
Two weeks ago I wrote that 2017 would be a great year for King adaptations. Well, it will also be a great year for King collaborations. Earlier King has only released books with two authors, Peter Straub (The Talisman and Black House) and Stweart O’Nan (Faithful). He has also released two short stories with his son Joe Hill (In the tall Grass and Throttle).
In 2017 two King books will be released and both are collaborations. The first one we learned about just two days ago and is a collaboration with Richard Chizmar. We don’t know anything about this story or when it will be released but based on what Rich wrote about it on his facebook page it will be released soon as a standalone hardcover. My guess is something like when CD released Blockade Billy.
The second book is also a collaboration. This time King has collaborated with his son Owen and together they have written Sleeping Beauties that will be released in October 2017. And even though it’s “only” 8 months until the book is out we don’t know much about it.
The idea, a story about what would happen if all the women in the world fell asleep, came from Owen and it took King and Owen over two years to write the book. So far King has read two excerpts from it (they are NOT online though). One from a man’s point of view, and one from the point of a view from a female character, who is existing in another dimension.
The official synapse is:
What would happen if all the women abandoned the world? A wildly provocative novel of supernatural suspense, SLEEPING BEAUTIES is the first father/son collaboration between Stephen King and Owen King.
I think 2017 will be a great King year! What are your thoughts?
Dan Lin talks about the IT movie being rated R and it's sequel.
DAN LIN: It is a rated-R movie. If you’re going to make a “Rated-R movie”, you have to fully embrace what it is, and you have to embrace the source material. It is a scary clown that’s trying to kill kids. So of course that’s going to be a rated-R movie. The kids are amazing. You very much get a Stand by Me vibe as far as their camaraderie and the way they joke with each other and that they really care for each other. They do have a scary crown that’s taken over the town of Derry, so it’s going to be rated R.
Here you can find more info and register for this years Adult Book & Author Breakfast.
The 2017 Adult Book & Author Breakfast is shaping up to be the forum’s most exciting yet with the first-ever BookExpo appearance by best-selling novelist Stephen King (Misery, 11/22/63, On Writing). Joined by Owen King, his son and co-author of the upcoming novel Sleeping Beauties, the pair will offer a special introduction to the breakfast, ‘Prologue by Stephen King & Owen King.
Stephen and Owen will both be attending this years BookExpo promoting Sleeping Beauties
NEW YORK (AP) — This year's BookExpo will feature a popular father-and-son combination: Stephen and Owen King.
Convention organizers ReedPop told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the authors will be featured at a June 1 breakfast at the Jacob Javits Center in New York. They will be promoting "Sleeping Beauties," a novel they worked on together.
So, are you ready for the film year 2017? It’s been quite some time since we had this much to look forward to as we have this year.
It all starts on June 22 with The Mist premiering on Spike. The first season will have 10 episodes.
Next up is the long awaited Dark Tower movie. It will premier in the US and many other countries on July 28.
After that we’ll have to wait until the fall for the first of two IT movies. The movie will premier in the US and a lot of other countries on September 8.
Besides these we’ll get the TV Series Mr Mercedes. The show will air on Direct TV in 10 episodes.
Netflix will release Gerald's Game sometime during 2017 and hopefully also 1922. And for those who want everything Children of the Corn: Runaway will probably be released sometime during 2017.
On Instagram mr_mercedestv is keeping us up to date with the filming of Mr Mercedes. In his last post he mentions that they will film in Goose Creek the upcoming days. So, if anyone is in the area, keep an eye open for them and also, take pictures and send to me. Mr Mercedes is being set up to be filmed in Goose Creek right now. Signs say emergency parking only after 6am 02/07 so it will film tomorrow. A store between Food Lion and Mona’s Wings on Red Bank Rd has been being worked on for about a month.
Did you know that Creepshow 2 was supposed to have a segment called Pinfall? Well it was but that story never reached beyond the script stage. When they shot the movie it was removed to keep down costs and since then we haven’t heard much about it…until now. With the release of the limited Blu-ray edition of Creepshow 2 a comic version of Pinfallwas included.
The bad news is that it’s a very limited release. The good news though is that Bryant Burnette over at The Truth inside the Lie has done a very good review of it. And an interview with its creator Jason Mayoh.
Mike Flanagan talked Gerald’s Game with Dread Central.
“We’re in post right now, and I’m so, so excited about this one,” Flanagan tells us. “Carla and Bruce [Greenwood] were both amazing – it really is some of the best work I’ve ever seen from either of them. This has been a dream project for a long time, and I’m thrilled to report that it exceeded even my expectations. I can’t wait for it to get out into the world.”
Holy Cinema reports from the set of Mr Mercedes.
After seeing crew signs and production trucks scattered around the upper peninsula the past few weeks, we ran across the filming of the Mr. Mercedes TV series on Sans Souci Street today in North Central. The show is based on the Stephen King detective novel trilogy.
The crew has been filming a few days at a time over the past few weeks, setting up shop downtown at a couple of different locales. Trucks and crews have been seen staging at the Charleston Rifle Club off Heriot Street.
If anyone of you live there or close by, go take photos and send them to me.
According to StephenKing.com Sleeping Beauties will be out in October.

Here is a short interview with Carla Gugino about her role as Jessie in Gerald's Game.
“It was one of the hardest, most challenging shoots I've ever done, which is saying a lot,” said Gugino about the project. “It's one of the most fulfilling things I've done,” she continued. “I love this woman…you're dealing with something that has elements of horror, but also is really more of a thriller, in the vain of a Misery. And she is also dealing with this childhood sexual trauma with her father, and those are all tricky tones to find together.”
Netflix has not yet set a premiere date for the film.
Production on the 10-episode show from Sonar Entertainment is underway in Charleston, SC and according to this article the premiere is slated for this fall. Casting for Mr Mercedes is coming together. Here is a list of what we know so far.

In this podcast from mid-2016 Mike Flanagan talk a bit about Gerald’s Game (nothing really new though).
If you just want the Gerald’s Game part it starts at 2.24 in but Mike has a lot of interesting stuff to say before that as well so I recommend you to listen to the whole episode.
Justine Lupe will play Holly Gibney in the movie version of Mr Mercedes, the younger cousin of Janey and Olivia who has some “issues”: OCD, synesthesia, sensory processing disorder. But she’s also terribly observant, refreshingly unfiltered and unaware of her innocence, which is oddly endearing.
