Here are some very interesting news. On July 22 Beryl Evans will attend Comic Con and sign her book Charlie the Cho Cho.
Evans who? You might ask.
Well, Beryl Evans is a fictional author from The Dark Tower who wrote the book Charlie the Cho Cho and now she is at Comic Con signing her book.
What does this mean?
Well, that is hard to say but I would guess that there will be some kind of Dark Tower event at Comic Con this year. Exactly what we don’t know yet though.
Beryl Evans is the name of the author who wrote Charlie the Choo-Choo. In Wolves of the Calla, Beryl Evans' name is changed to Claudia y Inez Bachman when Eddie Dean and Jake Chambers go todash and visit The Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind.
This is so cool I had to write about it. King’s Korea publisher has decided to run a contest (that reminds me a bit about the one in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) with the release of the Korean edition of Finders Keepers. They have placed a ticket in several of the copies of the book and if you get one when you buy your copy of the book you can either win a copy of the book The Runner by John Rothstein (fictional character in Finders Keepers) or a cool T-shirt with the Jimmy Gold (fictional character in The Runner) quote “Shit don’t mean shit”.
The book The Runner by John Rothstein is in face a notebook since Rothstein only exists in King’s mind but it’s a really cool contest if you ask me and as far as I can tell the notebook and shirt only exists in a limited number and can’t be bought.
On a question about the plot of The Dark Tower, about where the first movie will start and so on go this reply from the moderator of King’s board.
No official announcements have been made about the plot or the additional cast members and won't be until later this month.
So, that makes me hope that we’ll know more about all this soon…
Thank you all who have sent in photos for the contest! To make sure I got your photos please visit the photo pages and make sure your photo is there (allow up to a day for me to add them). It is so much fun to see all your photos and especially all you creativity with the Lilja’s Library once. Keep them coming and if you have photos of yourself on all six pages by August 31st you have the chance to win a copy of The Folio Society’s beautifully illustrated edition of The Shining, SIGNED BY STEPHEN KING!
Michael C. Hall and Paul Giamatti narrate the audiobook edition of King's Skeleton Crew that is out now for download. Over at Entertainment Weekly you can listen to two exclusive excerpts from the it.
Here are the first film clip from the set of The Dark Tower. What you see is the prepping of some child extras on location in Madison Square Park, New York City, June 30, 2016.
One of the things King Fans are always looking for is a signed book by the master. Years ago you could send a book to King and he would sign it for you. Eventually he had to stop doing that to get time to write his books. Today there are really only two ways of getting a signed King book. One is to attend one of the few signings he’s doing from time to time and the other is to buy a signed book which can be both expensive and risky (chances are you might end up with a fake signature if you don’t go through the right channels).
But today there is a third way. You can actually get a copy of The Folio Society’s beautiful first illustrated (illustrations by Edward Kinsella) edition of The Shining (read more about the book or buy a copy on their website) signed by King (there are only a limited number available) for free. Too good to be true? Not at all. All you have to do is enter this contest that I’m running.
To enter the contest you have to show me that you are a fan. And the way you do that is to send me photos of you and King’s books for the photo pages I have on the site. Please make sure it’s one book in each photo and the right book.
For the last one, where you show you and Lilja’s Library you can do pretty much what you want as long as you and something connected to Lilja’s Library is in the photo. Check the page out for inspiration.
If you send in a photo for all these 6 groups you will be in the drawing for the signed book. Easy right? And because I don’t want to force you to buy the books if you don’t have them you can print the cover from Internet and use that one for any of the books you’re missing.
Now we have photos of all three main characters from The Dark Tower movie. Eddie and Susanna might appear but so far we only know for sure that The Man in Black, Jake and Roland will be in this one and below you can see all three from this weekend’s filming in New York.
Cemetery Dance and Hodder & Stoughton will release the book Six Scary Stories this fall. Hodder as an eBook on August 25 and Cemetery Dance as a hardcover and tradepaperback on October 31. Please note that King has written the intros to the stories but not the stories themself.
Six Scary Stories
selected and introduction by Stephen King
Featuring full color cover artwork by Vincent Chong
About the Book:
Number 1 bestselling writer Stephen King introduces and presents six gripping and chilling stories in this captivating anthology!
Stephen King discovered these stories when he judged a competition run by Hodder & Stoughton and the Guardian to celebrate publication of his own collection The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. He was so impressed with the entries that he recommended they be published together in one book, which Cemetery Dance Publications and Hodder & Stoughton are pleased to report has become a reality. The six stories are:
WILD SWIMMING by Elodie Harper
EAU-DE-ERIC by Manuela Saragosa
THE SPOTS by Paul Bassett Davies
THE UNPICKING by Michael Button
LA MORT DE L'AMANT by Stuart Johnstone
THE BEAR TRAP by Neil Hudson
Stephen King’s 2006 novel, Lisey’s Story, focuses on the character of Lisey Landon, widow of famous writer Scott Landon. King wrote the following letter (read it here) to explain the mix tape he created for Landon, which was discovered in Landon’s 1974 Ford Falcon.
The Dark Tower will be filming in New York this weekend according to OLV.
Here is where they will be this weekend:
Thursday, 6/30: 27th St and Madison Ave, NYC
Thursday 6/30 – Friday, July 1: Walker St, NYC
Friday, 7/1 White St and Broadway, NYC
Saturday, July 2: 26th St and 3rd Ave, NYC
reports that The Breathing Method will be turned into a TV series.
In 2012, it was announced that Blum was developing The Breathing Method as a feature film project through Universal, with Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister) slated to direct from a script by Scott Teems. There’s no word on whether Derrickson will be involved with the television series. “It’s active,” says Blum. “It’s moving along.”
The Breathing Method, which is the only one of the four novellas from Different Seasons to not yet receive the big screen treatment, tells the bizarrely romantic and heartbreaking story of an elderly Manhattan doctor who recounts his long ago encounter with a pregnant woman who is determined to give birth to her illegitimate child, despite being poor and having no family. As the doctor teaches the woman his unique breathing method, to help her get through childbirth, he falls in love with her.
The television series will focus on the relationship between the doctor and the woman, which begins in the 1930s, which leaves lots of room to explore the relationship between the doctor and the woman’s child, a boy, who is born in the story after his mother is decapitated. He’s then put up for adoption but watched over by the doctor, who keeps track of the boy’s – and the resulting man’s – progress.
No network is currently attached.
I don’t know about you but I’m not that excited about this news. Sounds kind of boring actually. What do you think? Could this be a success if done?
Is the The Mist set to start filming next month?
Last April, Spike TV announced that production for the original scripted series was beginning this summer and slated to air in 2017.
Two sources close to the production said Wednesday (June 22) that filming is expected to begin next week in the empty Target store in Bedford.
The Bedford Place Mall building will reportedly be used as studio space for the harrowing series.
The Target store has been shuttered since April 2015, when the American retailer closed down all of their 133 Canadian locations after failing to crack the Canadian market.
On Wednesday, there were no obvious signs of TV production but a RONA employee said their store and other surrounding businesses received a notice last week about the filming of a television series.
The employee said the notice indicated production will begin in July and be filmed over a six-month period. A portion of the back parking lot of the mall will be used to park production trailers.
The notice did not disclose the name of the series or the production company. David Schwarz, senior vice-president of communications for Spike TV, said in an emailed statement on Wednesday that production details cannot be confirmed at this time.
Here is an interview with Matthew McConaughey and in the end he mentions The Dark Tower:
He bids me goodbye to return to The Dark Tower, in which he plays the villainous Man in Black to Idris Elba’s dystopian sci-fi Western hero. Even in that world, good and evil are relative depending on whose shoes you’re standing in. McConaughey considered whether his Walter Padick, the greatest villain in the Stephen King multiverse, would believe himself to be evil incarnate. He pauses. “He sure doesn’t think he is,” he says. “A good villain believes he’s a minister of peace.”
Here is a list of the cast for the IT remake. As for the Loser’s Club only the kids has been cast so far and it’s hard to say how well they will do. I haven’t seen them in anything so it could go either way but let’s hope they are right for the parts.

Beverly Marsh - Sophia Lillis
Stan Uris - Jack Grazer
Mike Hanlon - Chosen Jacobs
Eddie Kaspbrak - Wyatt Oleff

From the pressrelease:
New York, NY, June 23, 2016 – Frances Conroy has signed on to star in Spike’s new scripted series “The Mist.” From TWC-Dimension Television (TV) based on the classic Stephen King novella, “The Mist” goes into production this summer and airs in 2017. The announcement was jointly made today by Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike and Bob Weinstein, Co-Chairman The Weinstein Company.
Conroy has been cast in the role of “Nathalie,” a modern day ecological martyr. While she is seemingly more connected to nature than most people, her instincts about her fellow humans are dead on. Conroy is best known for playing Ruth Fisher on the television series “Six Feet Under.”
Australian actor Nicholas Hamilton has joined the production of IT, New Line Cinema’s Andy Muschietti-directed adaptation of the Stephen King bestseller. Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are producing. Hamilton will play Henry Bowers.
Barnes & Noble did a Facebook Live show of King's appearance last night. Since this was done on Facebook you have to head over there to see it though. Click here (you might have to scroll down a bit).
This was King's last stop on his End of Watch tour.
Is this the earliest photo of King? It might. Stephen Spignesi will be talking about it later today!
This is one of the photos I'll be showing and talking about at my Stephen King lecture today. This was provided to me by Stephen King's brother Dave, for my "Stephen King Encyclopedia." Is this the earliest picture ever taken of Stephen King? Might be.
We hope you enjoy this episode and, as usual, we want to hear from you.
Good or bad, we want it all!
