Salem’s Lot Without A Release Date

Seems the remake of Salem’s Lot is having some problems. Bloody Disgusting has the following update…

Originally set for theatrical release on September 9, 2022, the new Stephen King adaptation was recently bumped to April 21, 2023, and now the film has been undated altogether.

It’s likely that Warner Bros. is trying to figure out what to do with the movie, and whether to bring it to theaters or to streaming on HBO Max. We’ll report more as we learn it.

This is probably not a good sign…

The Regulators Film Adaptation

Deadline reports the The Regulators Will be adapted into a movie by Bohemia Group.

Bohemia Group has optioned film rights to Stephen King’s bestseller The Regulators, tapping George Cowan to adapt the Western horror-thriller for the big screen.

The film adaptation of The Regulators is being shepherded by Bohemia Group’s Executive Vice-President, producer Justin Ross, who helped develop the King-approved script with Cowan.

“I’m delighted that the excitement of ‘The Regulators’ is coming to the screen,” King told Deadline. “This is going to be good.”

“We could not be more thrilled than to be working with the prolific Stephen King and his team on this project,” said Bohemia Group’s CEO, Susan Ferris. “The novel’s themes and characters resonate so powerfully, and we are looking forward to making an incredible film.”

“Working with Stephen King is a long-time wish fulfilled,” added Ross. “Susan and George and I look forward to doing the novel and its author proud.”

King Testifying Against Merge

APNews reports about King testifying against the merge of Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster.

As the Justice Department bids to convince a federal judge that the proposed merger of Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster would damage the careers of some of the most popular authors, it is leaning in part on the testimony of a writer who has thrived like few others: Stephen King.

King has willingly — even eagerly — placed himself in opposition to Simon & Schuster, his longtime publisher. He was not chosen by the government just for his fame, but for his public criticism of the $2.2 billion deal announced in late 2021, joining two of the world’s biggest publishers into what rival CEO Michael Pietsch of Hachette Book Group has called a “gigantically prominent” entity.

“The more the publishers consolidate, the harder it is for indie publishers to survive,” King tweeted last year.

Q&A About H&S’s Limited Fairy Tale

Posted: July 27, 2022, 19:11
_

Yesterday Hodder & Stoughton put up a limited signed edition of FAIRY TALE by Stephen King on their own website for pre-order. A lot of you have had questions about this and I have now the answers for you. Straight from the publisher.

The reason some fans (depending on where they live) weren’t able to order the book is because Hodder & Stoughton don’t have the rights to sell their books in those territories/markets. Nothing else.

The offer was limited to one copy per customer, so if someone ordered more than one book, the publisher will be checking with a view to cancelling duplicate or multiple orders. In this event, those copies will be put back on sale on the site, so keep your eyes peeled.

If you ordered and got two confirmations, one from Shopify and one from Hachette UK, your order is received and accepted, and you’ll get the book once it’s released.

The book will be signed on the page by King himself, not a printed signature or a bookplate.

Here are my thoughts about the new documentary Pennywise: The Story of IT.

Just saw Pennywise: The Story of IT and I must say that I’m impressed. We have heard about this documentary for a long time and from time to time the wait has felt painfully long (in that you just want to see it now) but let me tell you. After seeing it I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait.

Release Date For Salem’s Lot Moved

Posted: July 11, 2022, 19:41
_
The News we all suspected would come has now done just that. Warner Bros have confirmed that they are moving New Line’s adaptation of Salem’s Lot from Sept. 9 to April 21, 2023.

The move itself isn’t a surprice since neither a poster or a trailer has been released but to move it more than 7 months, what’s up with that? Talk about missing the target. Well, hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.

The Boogeyman Has Finished Shooting

Director Rob Savage gives an update on The Boogeyman. The movie will air on Hulu but no premier date has been released yet.

“We’ve finished shooting, and we’re in the edit, and it’s all going very well. And I’m really, incredibly pleased with how this movie has come together. And I’m so in awe of the cast that we’ve that we’ve pulled together. So I feel like, even if it turns out that I’ve totally f*cked up my part of it, I feel like everyone else in this movie is so incredibly talented, that it’s still going to come together to be something special. And yeah, hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, it’ll rank pretty high up the list of Stephen King adaptations. Knock on wood, but I think we’ve got something really, really great in the can. But that’s that’s where we are right now.”

New Interview With King

Posted: May 27, 2022, 21:22
_
Here is a new interview with King. He talks about a lot of stuff but the highlights are these.

In passing King mentioned that he has written a new novella called Rattlesnake that’s actually a sequel to Cujo.

“I just wrote a long story called Rattlesnakes. And it involves, at one part, twins who are only four years old… falling into a rattlesnake pit. And the snakes get ’em. It’s a terrible scene.”

Unfortunately the interviewers didn’t follow up on this so we don’t really got to know how it’s connected to Cujo.

It also seams that Mr Harrigan’s Phone is done. King mentions that he’ll see it later the same day they did the interview.

He also talks about Fairy Tale and admits that the new Firestarter movie wasn’t all that good.

Thoughs About Finn

Here are some thoughts about King’s new story Finn.

Finn is a young man who has been followed by bad luck all his life so the fact that he is kidnapped by mistake isn’t something that should surprise anyone.

Firestarter; Bring Me The Fire Extinguisher

Here are my thoughts about the remake of Firestarter. There are one SPOILER but I have marked it so you can skip it if you haven’t seen the movie yet…

It’s almost like Andy and Charlie are superheroes. Give them suits and some cool names like FireGirl and PushFather and you have the latest instalment of Marvel’s superhero movies. And the ending…don’t even get me started. It’s so stupid that I wanted to scream. What happened?

Firestarter Franchise?

Posted: May 10, 2022, 07:13
_
Keith Thomas, director of the Firestarter remake is open to a potential franchise based on the King’s book.

“I’m always down, I’m always down. I think we’ve got all sorts of ideas of where it could go. Obviously, Stephen King didn’t write a sequel. So all that would need to be explored, but I feel like we created a world in this, and some characters that I feel like their stories could definitely expand, expand and go on.”

What do you say? Do we need/want sequels?

Firestarter Interview

Here is an interview with Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong & Keith Thomas about the upcoming Firestarter remake. What worries me is that Keith Thomas seems to think it’s OK to change the plot because there already is a movie version that’s true to the book…

First Footage From Salem’s Lot

On September 9 Warner Bros. bringings the remake of Salem’s Lot to theaters and we’re all waiting for the trailer.

Yesterday the first footage debuted at CinemaCon. This particular footage probably won’t be making its way online, but Bloody Disgusting have some social media reactions that at least help paint a picture of what was shown.

Welcome To Derry!

A prequel to IT is in development at HBO Max. The series is called Welcome to Derry and will begin in the 1960s and cover the time up to the events in the IT movie from 2017. It’s also said it will cover the origin story of Pennywise.

Andy Muschietti, who directed both IT movies, is attached to executive produce the series along with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Muschiettis and Fuchs developed the story for the show with Fuchs writing the script. Andy would also direct the first episode should the project go to series.

What do you think? Do we want/need a prequel to IT that’s not based on something King wrote?
