The Stand; 8-Part TV Series & 1 Movie?

The Stand on TV and in Theatres? Well, according to an article over at The Wrap that might be the case.

In addition to movie, Warner Bros., CBS Films and writer-director Josh Boone are in talks to mount an 8-part TV series

Before it hits a movie theater near you, Stephen King‘s epic post-apocalyptic novel “The Stand” will take a revolutionary detour to the small screen, as Warner Bros. and CBS Films are in talks with Showtime to mount an eight-part miniseries that will culminate in a big-budget feature film, multiple individuals familiar with the ambitious project have told TheWrap.

Josh Boone, the “Fault In Our Stars” director who boarded “The Stand” in February 2014, will write and direct the star-studded miniseries, which is expected to start shooting early next year as one cohesive production, according to insiders.

This has not been confirmed yet.

Article About Lilja's Library

Here is an article about me and Lilja's Library from a Swedish magazine called Vi.

Tomorrow Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes is released in Swedish, a book that the publisher calls his first pure thriller, and "a tribute to the hard-boiled noir genre." We asked ourselves, who is Sweden's biggest King fan. Perhaps it is this man.

Pennywise Design Sketches

Splice director Vincenzo Natali has just revealed that he had at one point in time pitched his own adaptation of IT. Natali recently joined Twitter and he’s been sharing all sorts of fun behind the scenes images, many of which are from projects that never got off the ground.

Earlier this week, Natali tweeted out some concept art from his IT pitch, giving us a look at four different ideas he had for the character of Pennywise. The design sketches were whipped up by both Natali and artist Amro Attia, and the director is quick to note that the “not so good” drawings were done by him.

Us Getting Finders Keepers

Posted: June 3, 2015, 08:33

King’s latest book, Finders Keepers, is out and I would like to do the same thing I did when Mr Mercedes and Revival was released. I want to put together a page with photos of you all and your copy of Finders Keepers. All you need to do is send me a photo (this should open an email but if it dosn't, send the photo to info[a]liljas-library.com) of yourself and the book (any edition works) and I’ll post them here. If you don’t want to send it by email you can also post it on the facebook page and I’ll grab it there. I would also like to ask you to include your name, town and country so that I can list that with the photo. You can see what it will look like at the Mr Mercedes page or the Revival page.

Let's get those photos collected!

Nobody Interested in Tom and Gerald

Posted: June 2, 2015, 23:59
_
A couple of interesting tidbits came out of George A. Romero's Wizard World St. Louis Q&A last week.

Nobody will make his Stephen King movie adaptations

"...we haven't been able to sell 'The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon' to anybody. I have been working on that, and recently wrote another draft of that, but nobody wants to do that. We can't get anyone interested. That and 'Gerald's Game.' Those are the two I was interested in, but we can't get anyone."

Romero adapted King's 1999 novel "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" with an eye on Dakota Fanning to star, but the adaptation stalled out because, according to Romero, "Hollywood thought the story was 'too soft,' especially with my name attached to it..." (October 2005 interview with Bloody-Disgusting). As for "Gerald's Game," "Oculus" director Mike Flanagan was reported to have signed on to write and direct a film adaptation in May of last year, but no news has been reported since.

And The Winners Are!

The Finders Keepers contest is over and we have four lucky winners but before we present them, let’s reveal the right answer. The question you should find was "What is Bill Hodges middle name?" and the answer to that question is “William” since his full name is "Kermit William Hodges".

And the winners are: Kathleen Handley, Luke Fitzjohn, Wies Mielniczyn and Stuart Pack. Congratulations!

Nikolaj Arcel to The Dark Tower?

Posted: June 2, 2015, 22:45

Deadline reports that Nikolaj Arcel is the choice to direct The Dark Tower.

EXCLUSIVE: Nikolaj Arcel is the choice to direct The Dark Tower, the Stephen King novel series set in a world woven with magic and revolving around the gunslinger Roland Deschain. I’ve heard talks will begin shortly toward a deal that will have him overseeing a rewrite and directing the film. Sony Pictures Entertainment signed on earlier this year to co-finance the franchise with Media Rights Capital — it gives new topper Tom Rothman a strong franchise play — and now it looks like they’re near to naming the helmer who’ll bring this massively ambitious project to life.

Let's see if it happen this time...

Cary Fukunaga Leaves IT

Posted: May 25, 2015, 22:56

Looks like Cary Fukunaga is leaving the remake of IT and now the Movie(s) once more is pushed indefinitely...

Cary Fukunaga is out as the director of New Line’s two-part adaptation of Stephen King‘s “It,” which will not move forward as planned this summer and has been pushed indefinitely, multiple individuals familiar with the situation have told TheWrap.

Insiders tell TheWrap that “True Detective” director Fukunaga repeatedly clashed with the studio and did not want to compromise his artistic vision in the wake of budget cuts that were recently demanded by New Line, which greenlit the first film at $30 million. The situation came to a head over Memorial Day weekend, leading to Fukunaga’s abrupt exit from the ambitious project.

It’s unclear whether New Line will hire a new director to immediately take over the project or go back to the drawing board for an entirely new approach, but one insider told TheWrap that “It” was dead as currently constituted. A studio insider acknowledged the film has been pushed indefinitely but did not go into the specifics of Fukunaga’s exit.

Full story here.

Maybe that's why producers of the new Stephen King time-travel miniseries "11.22.63" appear poised to rent out this quaint, but quirky Stanley Street establishment — an old speakeasy where packs of university students have been known to launch D.U.S.T.E.D. (Drink Unsuspecting Small-Town Establishment Dry) raids of Tommyknocker mischief.

Plot & Photos From Season 3

Here are some photos from episode 1 and 3 from season 3 of Under the Dome.

UNDER THE DOME, based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, tells the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. In the weeks following the Dome’s descent on the sleepy town of Chester’s Mill, the inhabitants have been forced to adapt. Combating Dome- and man-made threats daily, the community rises to new heights of ingenuity, courage and, for some, darkness, in order to survive their post-apocalyptic isolation. Just as the town’s quest for answers reveals a seemingly viable path to freedom, everything the residents think they know about the Dome and its motivations is turned upside down. Again facing an uncertain future, the citizens of Chester’s Mill begin to realize their true destiny as the Dome reveals more of its ultimate agenda for them. As new dangers emerge, battle lines are drawn that will alter relationships in ways none of them could imagine. For this town, the true threat to the human spirit’s resilience is no longer just the invisible dome that has cut them off from civilization – but it is the enemy within.

Begins its third season Thursday, June 25 on the CBS Television Network

Plot For Drunken Fireworks

Plot for Drunken Fireworks:

Alden McCausland and his mother are what they call “accident rich”; thanks to an unexpected life insurance policy payout and a winning Big Maine Millions scratcher, Alden and his Ma are able to spend their summers down by Lake Abenaki, idly drinking their days away in a three-room cabin with an old dock and a lick of a beach.

Across the lake, they can see what “real rich” looks like: the Massimo family’s Twelve Pines Camp, the big white mansion with guest house and tennis court that Alden’s Ma says is paid for by “ill-gotten gains” courtesy of Massimo Construction. When Alden’s holiday-weekend sparklers and firecrackers set off what over the next few years comes to be known as the 4th of July Arms Race, he learns how far he and the Massimos will go to win an annual neighborly rivalry – one that lands Alden in the Castle County jail.

IT Remake Finds Its Pennywise

Posted: May 4, 2015, 23:38
_
Coming Soon reported today that the remake of IT might have found it's Pennywise.

Will Poulter, best known for his roles in The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Maze Runner, has landed a major part in a very different kind of literary adaptation. According to Variety, the We’re the Millers star is currently in negotiations to play Pennywise the clown in the upcoming two-part remake of Stephen King’s IT. Cary Fukunaga, the Emmy-winning director behind the first season of HBO’s “True Detective,” is directing and co-writing.

Poulter, who also stars in Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant, reportedly blew Fukunaga away with his IT audition, so audiences should be in for a treat when the two-part adaptation finally hits the screen.

Fukunaga wrote the screenplay for the films with Chase Palmer and David Kajganich. Dan Lin, David Katzenberg, Doug Davison and Seth Grahame-Smith are attached to serve as producers.
