As you all know by now it’s not going to happen in the direct feature but not that long ago Ron Howard planed three movies with a TV series in between each and for those he asked concept artist and illustrator Gregory Hill to some concept art for it. And now Hill has published those on his website.

King Writes Less?

Here is an interesting article about King. When asked what frightens him he says without hesitation:

"Alzheimer's. My brain is my main tool and I don't want to lose it if I can."

King also says he's trying to slow down a little as an author which might be hard to believe when you know all the books coming during the next two years…

"It's harder than it used to be. I don't think I have as much to say as I used to, so I write less. It's still what I'm good at and what I like to do and it still makes me happy."

More details about the book:

SYNOPSIS

Few horror films in the history of television can boast the deadly seriousness, inspired casting, indelible images and lingering impact of Salem’s Lot. Tobe Hooper’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 novel about vampires that infest a small Maine town was first broadcast in November 1979.

The three-hour film featured unforgettable performances by an array of stars — James Mason, David Soul, Lew Ayres, Bonnie Bedelia — along with one of the most truly terrifying monsters in the history of movies: the feral vampire Mr Barlow played by Reggie Nalder.

This book documents the gestation and production of the film. There are reminiscences from cast and crew, including new and exclusive interviews with Tobe Hooper, David Soul, cinematographer Jules Brenner and producer Richard Kobritz; dozens of images, including many never before published behind-the-scenes production stills; deleted scenes from the original teleplay; foreign posters and artwork inspired by the film; photographs of Ferndale, California, where the exteriors ofSalem’s Lot were filmed; and much, much more.

King on Cell

“The movie is not totally close to the original screenplay that I wrote but I’ll tell you what, the end of it is so goddamn dark and scary. It’s really kind of a benchmark there.”

King on The Dark Tower

“I was very excited when Ron Howard got involved with that project, His original take on it was the best. He wanted to do the movies — three tentpole movies — interspersed with a number of TV series that covered Roland and his adventures as a young man. It was a brilliant concept, and I’m pretty sure it would have worked. [But] what sometimes happens in Hollywood and in filmmaking is, the financing fell apart, or the studio started to have second thoughts.”

Laura Mennell In Haven

Spoiler TV reports that Laura Mennell has been casted in season 5 of Haven.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Laura Mennell, who played the “suggestive” Nina on Syfy’s Alphas, has joined Haven Season 5 in the recurring role of a brilliant (and, well, beautiful) epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who fears the titular town is on the verge of a deadly viral outbreak.

Mennell’s character is described as “a force to be reckoned with,” as Audrey (played by Emily Rose), Nathan (Lucas Bryant) and Duke (Eric Balfour) quickly will discover. And while Dwight (Adam Copeland) will work overtime to keep hidden Haven’s secrets, the CDC whiz unknowingly uncovers a genetic marker found only in Troubled people. Could that mean a cure is around the corner…?!

A Good Marriage in October

_
Variety reports that A Good Marriage will premier in early October.

Screen Media Films has acquired North American rights to thriller “A Good Marriage,” adapted from Stephen King’s short story from the collection “Full Dark, No Stars.”

King wrote the screenplay, and Peter Askin directed the film, starring Joan Allen, Anthony LaPaglia, Kristen Connolly and Stephen Lang. Screen Media plans to distribute the film in early October — the start of the Halloween season — with a nationwide theatrical release accompanied by a day-and-date VOD platform release.

LaPaglia and Allen portray a married couple, with the wife discovering the horrifying stranger inside her husband while he’s away on a business trip — ending a good marriage.

“I’m delighted that ‘A Good Marriage’ is going to be available to the moviegoing public very soon, and hope we can scare the hell out of millions of people,” King said. “To me, that’s always an exciting prospect.”

The Stand To Be A Three-Hour, R-Rated, Movie

Here is a quote from an interview with Josh Boone in Vulture:

So I’m a big Stephen King fan, and I know you’re a gigantic Stephen King fan, so I have to ask about The Stand. You’re directing it. What can you tell me about it?

We’re gonna do one three-hour, R-rated version with an amazing A-list cast across the board. Every single one of those characters will be somebody you recognize and somebody you relate to. And it’s gonna be awesome. I’m really excited. It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever got to do in my entire life. If 12-year-old me had ever known that one day I’d be doing this, to even just go back and look at that kid, I’d be like, Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s just crazy. I’ve met so many actors over the years, and like, when I met Stephen King, I hugged him with tears in my eyes. He meant that much to me when I was young. I still say everything I learned about writing I learned from Stephen King. I don’t read screenplays. I don’t read screenplay how-to books. It’s always just, establish the character. Establish the character.
