The Rock Bottom Remainders is an idea that’s as crazy as it’s unique. The Rock Bottom Remainders is a rock band filled with writers like Stephen King, Dave Barry, Amy Tan, Matt Groening and others. They tour and play music as well as Metallica writes book according to themselves.

In the book Hard Listening: The Greatest Rock Band Ever (of Authors) Tells All we’re told all about the band, about their tours and other stuff that has happened during the years by the members themselves. Everyone gets to tell his or her story and let me tell you, its interesting reading. One big benefit with this book is that it’s released as an eBook. And before those of you that don’t like eBooks email me telling me no good comes from eBooks let me explain. eBooks give the publisher the chance of including photos that can be enlarged and zoomed. It gives the publisher the chance to include videos and audio clips that you can listen to and watch at the right moment in the story. This is something that a traditional book can’t provide the reader. And with a book like this that really benefits from included clips and audios it’s a good thing. Take my word for it!

Also included in the book are emails and faxes that’s been sent between the band members. These short texts gives us readers a unique insight to what it was like being in the band and what sense of humor the members have. Because there are a lot of fun and crazy stuff told here. Rounding it all off is a test where the reader gets to read four stories, written by Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, Greg Iles and Stephen King. The challenge then is to decide what story was written by King. And it’s not as easy as you might think.

This book might seems like a book only for the diehard fans of any of the members of The Rock Bottom Remainders and probably those are the once that will enjoy the book the most but still, it’s a fun book that I think can be enjoyed even if you only recognize King among all the bands members…
