Once again King shows us what a good writer he is and how good he is at letting us check in on people for a short while and then pop out of their lives again. This time we check in on Katherine MacDonald who works as a private nurse for Mr. Newsome who survived a plane crash but now doesn’t want to train his way back to life again but rather pay doctors and when that didn’t work healers to remove his pain.

As we enter the story Reverend Rideout is at Mr. Newsome’s bedside ready to heal him from his pain. Katherine doesn’t believe he can do what he says he can for one second. She feels she can spot a conman when she sees one. And in her mind Reverend Rideout is just that. Man is she in for a surprise…

As I said, in The Little Green God of Agony we get King at his best. He throws us in the story full force and when he thinks we’ve had enough he jerks us right out of it and I love it. Off course I would have loved hear what happened to Mr. Newsome, Reverend Rideout and Katherine when we leave but at the same time I’m happy with what I got. The Little Green God of Agony is a quite short story but at the same time a very intense one.

The Little Green God of Agony is a great read. Is it worth buying Book of Horrors for? Well, I think so but that’s for you to decide. If you plan on reading the rest of the stories it is but if you don’t then maybe you’d be better of waiting for the next King collection to be released. The Little Green God of Agony will probably be in it.
