Simon & Schuster Audio has released stories from King’s Nightmares & Dreamscapes on audio CDs. It’s being divided in six different audio editions and the three first was released now in June. The other three will be released later this year. The fact that they are divided in six different editions is both good and bad. It’s good in that way that if you only want some of the stories you don’t need to pay for all of them. On the other hand, if you want them all it will probably cost you a bit more.

The three that is released now are Dolan's Cadillac: And Other Stories, Chattery Teeth: And Other Stories and The House on Maple Street: And Other Stories. Together they give us 12 stories and one introduction by King himself. Each story is narrated by more or less well known people. Suffer the Little Children is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Dolan’s Cadillac by Rob Lowe, Chattery Teeth by Kathy Bates, The House on Maple Street by King's wife Tabitha King, Head Down by King himself and so on.

I also realized that while trying to select a few favorites for this review that I really like most of the stories in this collection quite well. They are all very good but if I would have to pick out a few that I like a little bit more than the others it would be Dolan’s Cadillac, Umney’s Last Case (Robert B. Parker) and Rainy seasons (Yeardley Smith). They are all very well written but also well narrated.

Other stories we get in these three are an Introduction by King, Crouch End (Tim Curry), My Pretty Pony (Jerry Garcia), Sneakers (David Cronenberg), Head Down and Brooklyn August (Stephen J. Gould). As I said they are all very good and it’s nice to finally have them on CDs. It’s also kinda nice that each story is narrated by a different narrator. It makes them a bit more interesting, and to be honest, since they aren’t connected there is no reason to use the same narrator.

If you haven’t already I would encourage you to go out and get these CDs as soon as you can. They are, as I have said, very good and will give you hours of enjoyment, as they did me.
