2nd season of Under the Dome further from the book

Will the second season of Under the Dome be further from the book then the first one? Looks like it...

Under The Dome On CBS -- **Spoiler Alert!*

"Under the Dome" season 2 won't be anything like the book written by Stephen King, according to new spoilers. Can we expect new cast members to be introduced to "Under the Dome" season 2 after the air date?

"Under the Dome" season 2 returns to CBS on Monday, June 30 at 10pm ET/PT. According to BuddyTV.com, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said that the new season "goes places the book never went."

Though fans of "Under the Dome" may find this disheartening, Tassler adds that the CBS series is "thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first [episode] of next season," she said, thereby confirming that King will remain heavily involved in the writing process of "Under the Dome" season 2.

Because the show must introduce new characters to continue the storyline, new cast members will be introduced after the air date, including: Junior's uncle, "who's been hiding out for reasons we find out," and a new teacher who will teach the drama's kids "how to arm and keep Chester's Mill running." The teacher will most likely be a rival for Dean Norris' character, Big Jim.

Speaking of Big Jim: a new teaser trailer hints that he and Sheriff Linda share an intimate kiss!"

4 covers for UK paperback edition of Under the Dome

HODDER & STOUGHTON CREATES RADICAL NEW LOOK FOR STEPHEN KING

Hot on the heels of the news that the creative team at Hodder has won the Book Marketing Society’s Best Campaign Award for Stephen King’s latest hardcover, UNDER THE DOME (published in November, 2009), and nominated as finalist in the Revolution Awards 2010, Hodder is proud to announce plans to take the paperback to an even greater audience when it is published in July.

The strategy behind the summer publication is to generate the excitement usually expected from a major television or film launch, and the campaign is designed to reach a raft of new readers, challenging people’s perception of Stephen King and connecting with an audience usually outside the reading culture.

Hodder are unveiling a radical new package featuring four different covers, each reflecting in a filmic way characters from UNDER THE DOME. The marketing campaign supporting publication will seek to bring to life individuals featured on these covers. Media used will include national outdoor posters, on-line advertising and a dedicated website with stories and recordings from characters in the book. The plan is very much to reach a bigger audience than for any previous King paperback whilst involving the reader in a very personal and intimate way.

UNDER THE DOME is the most successful and biggest selling King hardcover this decade and Hodder expects that their innovative and energetic approach to the paperback will reap similar rewards.

King in Sarasota

Here are some pics and info from King's visit to Sarasota to promote Under the Dome. The event was a great 90min and covered a range of topics. Here is a summary:

1. He re-confirmed Wind through the Keyhole as another Dark Tower novel that he will be working on.

2. He re-confirmed that he and Straub will be doing another Talisman / Black House novel to make it a trilogy for Jack Sawyer.

3. One of the scariest scenes for him personally that he's had to write was the bathtub scene in The Shining.

4. He believes he's seen one ghost in his life. It was at a party that he went to when going to retrieve he and Tabitha's coats before leaving. He saw a man sitting in the bedroom where the coats were being kept out of the corner of his eye. There were so many coats that Steve thought the man might think he was stealing and was about to tell the man that wasn't true when he looked up there was no man actually in the room. He described the man as bald, wearing glasses, in a brown suit.

5. He was presented The Key to the City of Sarasota at the end of the evening by the Mayor.

Here are more links to articles about the event, including a blog of the interviewer Susan Rife.

This was posted on King's official site after it was reported that the eBook of Under the Dome would cost $35.

Dear Constant Readers,

Please don’t believe the press reports that the e-book reader price for Under the Dome will be $35. This was the result of confusion from a press release from the publisher, what Big Jim Rennie would call a clustermug. It is true that you cannot order the book as an e-download until December 24th but the physical book, which is a beautiful thing, you can pre-order for less than $9—so who’s better than us?

There have been talks about a limited edition of Under the Dome from Hodder & Stoughton for a while now but now things are finally starting to happen.

At Waterstone's they are now taking orders for an edition that costs £100 and my guess is that this is that limited that there has been talks about.

I'm looking for more info as we speaks but if you want to order your copy now you can do that here but please not that there hasn't been any confirmation yet that this IS the limited one.

A hidden masterpiece

With less than a month left till the release of Under the Dome Hodder & Stoughton is kicking of a contest to celebrate the launch of the book. They are breaking the novel up into 5,196 pieces and then hiding the pieces for all of you to find.

The novel is going to be scattered across the internet and real world and it’s now up to you to find it, bring them back to their site (site is not yet live) and try to piece the novel together before it is out on general release on November 10th.

And if you hadn’t guessed it already there is one piece hidden here at Lilja’s Library as well. Happy Hunting!
