Instead of playing a killer clown as he did in It, this time around Skarsgård portrays a prisoner at Shawshank, who is directly connected with André Holland’s Henry Deaver, a death-row attorney. Henry, the son of Sissy Spacek’s Ruth, returns to Castle Rock in order to work on a case involving a young boy and finds himself recounting things about his past that he previously let go of. Lynskey plays a real estate agent named Molly Strand, who tries to stay optimistic about selling houses in the clearly cursed town, even though she has a hard time interacting with people.

Castle Rock will be filming in Orange next week.

Orange dresses up as ‘Castle Rock’ for Stephen King Hulu series

ORANGE — Town Hall will not be closed on Aug. 8, but you can expect delays when production crews film scenes in downtown Orange and at the First Universalist Church for “Castle Rock,” an upcoming series inspired by the works of horror writer Stephen King.

Joseph Stargensky, a freelance location manager for Hulu, the subscription video-on-demand service producing “Castle Rock,” said traffic will be detoured around the center of town for the early part of the day, but he did not see a reason to close Town Hall. He said the main intersection will close from 5:30 a.m. to noon so filming can last from 7 a.m. until noon. Filming, he said, will move to the church on North Main Street in the afternoon.

Downtown businesses will remain open to pedestrian traffic during filming.

Castle Rock is a 10-episode drama from writers and exec producers Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason (Manhattan). It's described as an ongoing series, though sources tell THR that it's more of an anthology that will weave together characters and themes from King's novels featuring the mysterious Castle Rock location. Here's how Hulu describes the series: "A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

Production team:

Castle Rock is based on characters and situations created by King. Shaw and Thomason developed the project for television and executive produce alongside Abrams and Bad Robot Productions' Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. The series is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
