If you turn down a good idea you’re a fucking asshole.

Looks like Mr Mercedes has been released in more languages than I thought and thanks to everyone that told me about them. Most of the editions have either the US, UK or a very similar cover but some countries stand out and do their own covers and for that (even if you like the cover or not) I think they need to be recognized. And here are three; Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia. Is there more covers out there for Mr Mercedes that have their own look? Let me know!
Its 198 days since Mr Mercedes was released and not it’s starting to pop up in different translations as well. Here is a list of other languages the book has or will be released in. If your language is missing, let me know and I’ll add it. Oh, and don’t forget to send it a photo of yourself and the book when you get it. It would be fun to have some foreign editions as well.

If anyone here should be to lazy (God forbid) to read King’s latest book here is an option for you. This is a summary of the book that is supposed to give you the plot, characters and anything else you need to know. My question though is who would prefer this version except someone too lazy to read the book and also has a school paper due?
What do you think of this book? Good or useless? And while you’re thinking about it, please send in your photo with Mr Mercedes so that I can add it to all the other fan photos.

OK, it’s been a week with a lot of news and I thought I summarize it up for you.
- King has announced that Mr Mercedes is the first book in a trilogy about Bill Hodges.
- The second book in the trilogy about Bill Hodges is finished in first draft and will be out in the first half of 2015. The title is Finders Keepers
- The Bill Hodges Trilogy revolves around the City Center Massacre that opens Mr Mercedes and because of that King suggests that it would be a good thing to list all those killed and injured in the massacre. You can find the complete list here.
- The Third book in the trilogy about Bill Hodges will probably be out in 2016.
- King will probably publish a new collection in the fall of 2015. No title or content has been revealed but here you can find what’s not been published yet. It will be stories previously published in magazines, etc. and whether there will be any completely new has not been decided yet.
- The paperback edition of Doctor Sleep is now out and in the US edition there is an 8 page long excerpt from this falls book Revival.
OK, that’s it so far and it’s easy to see that it will be a fun year and a half!
King just posted this letter about Mr Mercedes, Finders keepers (out next spring) and a possible collection next fall.
Dear Constant Reader,
Mr. Mercedes is the first volume of a projected trilogy concerning Bill Hodges, his friends…and his enemies. The second volume, Finders Keepers, is finished (in first draft, at least) and will be published in the first half of 2015, perhaps followed by a book of new stories in the fall (or not). Anyway, these three novels seem to revolve around the City Center Massacre that opens Mr. Mercedes. Because of that, I wanted to post a complete list of those killed and injured in Brady Hartsfield’s attack. Some of these unfortunates have other parts to play. As always, I’m glad you’re along for the ride, but be warned: there are some sharp turns ahead, and I’m a really crazy driver.
BIG News Today! King announced on Twitter yesterday that Mr. Mercedes is the first novel in a trilogy about Hodges, Jerome and Holly. They will all return in the book Finders Keepers next year. No word on when the third book is scheduled or what its title will be.
10 new photos for the Mr Mercedes fanphoto today. Thanks to you all. If you are not on it and want to, just send in a photo of yourself and your copy of Mr Mercedes (no matter what edition, eBook, audio book, hardcover...) and I'll put it up there. My goal right now is to get 200 photos...

Thursday 29 May 2014, marks the official countdown to publication for No. 1 bestselling writer Stephen King’s new novel, MR MERCEDES, which publishes on 3 June 2014, and the launch of an innovative digital content campaign. Hodder & Stoughton publishers have worked with the agency The Upside, which has devised a creative strategy highlighting the fabulous breadth of Stephen King's storytelling. Five mini animations of 15” have been created, each featuring a different character from one of King’s celebrated books. Each will reveal more about Mr Mercedes, the eponymous character in King’s memorable new novel. The videos will be released via facebook.com/StephenKingBooks, in the five days leading up to the publication.
On publication day, 3 June 2014, the animations will be edited and released as one long introduction to the novel, with a fresh scene revealing Mr Mercedes himself to readers.

Hodder & Stoughton has announced that they will release Mr. Mercedes. Hodder will publish a new novel by STEPHEN KING on 3 June, 2014.
Following the phenomenal success of DOCTOR SLEEP, a No. 1 international hardback bestseller, Stephen King has written a riveting cat-and-mouse suspense thriller about a retired cop and a couple of unlikely allies who race against time to stop a lone killer intent on blowing up thousands.
Retired homicide detective Bill Hodges is haunted by the few cases he left open, and by one in particular: in the pre-dawn hours, hundreds of desperate unemployed people were lined up for a spot at a job fair in a distressed Midwestern city. Without warning, a lone driver ploughed through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes. Eight people were killed, fifteen wounded. The killer escaped.
Months later, on the other side of the city, Bill Hodges gets a letter in the mail, from a man claiming to be the perpetrator. He taunts Hodges with the notion that he will strike again. Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing that from happening.
Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. And he is indeed preparing to kill again.
Hodges, with a couple of misfit friends, must apprehend the killer in this high-stakes race against time because Brady's next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim hundreds, even thousands.
Mr Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.
Editor Philippa Pride says: ‘Once again King shows the range and versatility of his writing as well as the sheer power of his storytelling. We are excited to be publishing a thriller by Stephen King in which he paints a brilliantly insightful portrait of a serial mass-murderer. The result? It is as scary as any supernatural horror story.’
Here is a longer description of Mr. Mercedes:
In a mega-stakes, high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely and winning heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands.
In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.
In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the “perk” and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.
Brady Hartfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with a couple of highly unlikely allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.
