King signs in Sarasota...
On Sunday afternoon, 400 faithful King aficionados who prepaid to get his latest tome, “Doctor Sleep,” lined up outside Bookstore1 on downtown's Main Street to get him to sign their copies.
John Cusack in yet another King movie? If you ask the actor himself the answer is yes.
John Cusack has declared his interest in starring in a big screen adaptation of 'Doctor Sleep,' Stephen King's sequel to 'The Shining.'
While there has been no definite talk of a 'Doctor Sleep' movie, Cusack singled it out in a Reddit Ask Me Anything Q&A as a project that he would "accept in a heartbeat" if it was offered to him.
I have finally been able to select a winner in the photo contest (with a copy of Cemetery Dance's Gift Edition of Doctor Sleep as the prize). It wasn’t easy to select a winner of the 85 entries but I did and her name is Egle Chesters. I just love her photo. It shows she put some effort in it, that her family supports her love for King and most important of it all, her new husband supports her love for King.
Here is her description of the photo:
I got married on 23rd July 2013 but I couldn't have my big day without a bit of Stephen! Pictured is my first dance featuring my new husband, myself and the real love of my life Stephen's Night Shift! :)
I know I normally don't like to put ads on my website but only offer you the latest and greatest Stephen King news, but veryfinebooks.com is closing up their special Doctor Sleep launch promotion today:
Here are the three winners who each get a copy of the UK edition of Doctor Sleep. Since I don't seems to be able to contact you through facebook I'm linking to your facebook profile here. That way you can see if you are the winner and also contact me through direct messages on facebook (to make sure you are you) with your address.
Here is all info you need about the signing in Paris November 13.
Stephen will be doing a book signing on Wednesday the 13th of November from 13:00 till 15:00 at MK2 Bibliothéque, 128-162 Avenue due France, 75013 Paris. This will not be a ticketed event and will be on a first-come, first-served basis so we, therefore, cannot guarantee that all who attend will be able to have a book signed if there are still fans waiting in line after 15:00. To accommodate as many fans as possible, there will be a one book per person limit. Fans may either bring the one book from their personal collection or purchase a book from MK2 at the event.
Sounds to me that you'll need to be there early if you want a signes book!
My Review of Doctor Sleep is now online. It's pretty spoiler free but if you don't want to know anything...hold of readin it. The rest of you can check it out here.
The first Winner in the audio contest has been selected. Jane Winter gets the first copy for reporting to me about King going to Europe probably the second it was on King's site. Thanks and congratulations Jane!
Stephen King's Doctor Sleep European Book Tour Kicks Off This November in Paris
Albin Michel and Heyne are proud to announce that Stephen will visit France and Germany to promote Doctor Sleep. With several events scheduled in both countries between November 13 and 20.
OK, I told you that I have four audio copies of Doctor Sleep to give out. Two copies on CD and two on PM3 CDs and I have been thinking of a suitable contest for a while now but with two other contest with Doctor Sleep prizes it’s hard. So, I have decided to do it the easy way…for me. I will, between now and September 23rd, give out these to someone who writes something on the facebook site, on twitter, in a comment to something posted here on the site (don't have to be a comment on this article) or in an email to me (the address can be found on the site).
And I’m not sure who (or why) I’ll give it to. When something feels right I’ll just pick the one who wrote it as a winner. So, get creative. The only rule is that there are no rules. You can write whatever you want (preferable nice though) and I’ll just pick the winners as I see them. Might be tomorrow, might be on September 23 or somewhere in between. So, get creative!
Oh, and you can enter as many times as you like and you can live anywhere in the world. Everyone can enter. One thing though, please keep an eye out for my messages. If you are a winner I will contact you in the same forum as your message was posted, i.e. if you win for something posted on facebook that is where I’ll let you know.
Anyone interested in getting a hardcopy of the UK edition of Doctor Sleep by Stephen King for free? Thought so…
Well, thanks to a collaboration between Lilja’s Library and Lilja Says all you need is to follow Lilja’s Library and Lilja Says on facebook and you might just be lucky enough to get a free copy. You do have to follow (like) both facebook pages though (I did say it was a collaboration right?).
On September 23rd (in time for you to know if you need to get a copy like everyone else of if you're one of the lucky winners) I’ll draw three lucky winners that each will get a hardcover of the UK edition of Doctor Sleep. Contest is open to anyone, no matter who you are or were you live!
Will Patton will narrate the audio book edition of Doctor Sleep. And make sure to check back here on September 1st when you'll get a chance to win a couple of them.

Cemetery Dance has released a sneak peek of Vincent Chong's interior for Doctor Sleep.
Vincent Chong turned in the rest of his original color interiors for our special edition of Doctor Sleep by Stephen King, which sold out just one week after it was announced, and we thought you might like a little sneak peek at another of the main characters, Rose Flanagan, who is known as Rose the Hat by the True Knot, the nomadic family she travels with:
STEPHEN KING to return to the characters and territory of one
of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in 2013
‘Hugely anticipated’ – The Sunday Times
King says he wanted to know what happened to Danny Torrance, the boy at the heart of The Shining, after his terrible experience in the Overlook Hotel. The instantly riveting, stand-alone novel, Doctor Sleep picks up the story of the now middle-aged Dan.
On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless - mostly old, lots of polyester, and devoted to their comfortable Recreational Vehicles. But they live off the ‘steam’ that children with the ‘shining’ produce when they are slowly tortured to death.
Following a childhood haunted by the time he spent with his parents at the Overlook Hotel, Dan Torrance has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father's legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles into a job at a nursing home in rural New Hampshire where his remnant ‘shining’ power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying.
Aided by a prescient cat, Dan becomes ‘Doctor Sleep’.
Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival...
Publication of the hardcover, eBook and digital download will be September 24, 2013. And if you want a taster before then, check out the CD or digital download of The Wind through The Keyhole in which Stephen King reads the Prologue.
