Finally, here are the winners in the Dark Tower Mania contest:

The winner of the limited edition of Wind Through the Keyhole donated by PSPulishing is Frank Willson. Today The Wind Through the Keyhole is released an it’s not often that we have so many different editions to choose from. I will try to list them for you here. I won’t include ARC’s and Galleys but only the once you can actually buy, even though some will cost you quite a lot.

From the US:
Donald M. Grant’s editions:
ARTIST EDITION: This edition is released in 5,000 copies and signed by Jae Lee and issued in a stamped slipcase. This one has all the illustrations.
DELUXE EDITION: This edition is released in 800 copies and signed by both Stephen King and Jae Lee and is issued in a stamped clamshell tray case. This one has all the illustrations.

Scribner’s edition: This one doesn’t have the color illustrations.
--
Simon & Schuster’s audio edition: This one has an extra disk with the first chapter of Doctor Sleep.


From the UK:
Hodder & Stoughton’s trade edition: This one doesn’t have the color illustrations.

Hodder & Stoughton’s limited sold by W H Smiths (book store in the UK): This edition has a sticker saying "Exclusive Limited Edition including one colour plate by Jae Lee" (the color plate is of a boy holding an axe on top of a reptile's head) and a sticker on the front saying “Collector’s Edition Exclusive to WHSmith”. It only has that color illustration.

King narrates Wind Through the Keyhole

Stephen King will narrate Wind Through the Keyhole himself when it’s released on April 24th.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with the character of Roland Deschain and the Dark Tower universe over
the years. Now that I am revisiting that world, it felt like a fine time to lend it my voice,” said King.

The Wind Through the Keyhole audiobook will also offer an exclusive audio preview of King’s upcoming novel, Doctor Sleep, the eagerly-awaited sequel to his classic, The Shinin, to be published in 2013. Stephen King will also read the excerpt from Doctor Sleep.

“We’re thrilled that Steve wanted to return to the studio for THE WIND THROUGH THE KEYHOLE. Limited dust jacket

There has been some confusion about the dust jacket for Hodder & Stoughton's limited edition of Wind Through the Keyhole so let me explain. If you buy the limited from anyone other than PS Publishing it won't have the dust jacket that you see on the trade edition but if you get it from PS Publishing it will and that is because they have made dust jackets, same as the trade ed, for the 400 copies of the limited that they have secured.

Oh, and Hodder's limited edition will have the color illustrations.

UK limited Wind Through the Keyhole

Thinking about getting a copy of the UK limited edition of The Wind Through The Keyhole? Well, if you are, my suggestion is that you get it from PS Publishing and here is why:

* First off, there'll be a dust-jacket included (there will be no dust-jacket with copies of the book bought elsewhere; PS Publishing are having the jackets printed up and wrapped around their copies at their own expense).

In addition, the first 200 orders will:

* be post-free anywhere in the world;

* receive a special numbered 20%-off voucher (please note that the 20% discount does not apply to postage charges) to be used against a future order of pre-2012 PS titles (and please also note that there will be no restriction on the number of books on that order so the 20% reduction will apply to as many books as you want); and

* qualify the customer to be included in a special prize draw wherein the first 10 names pulled out of the hat will receive—completely free of charge—a copy of PS's One For The Road artbook (written by Stephen, of course, and illustrated by James Hannah). News about a limited edition of Wind Through the Keyhole by Hodder & Stoughton from Pete over at PS Publishing.

We just found out that those lovely people at Hodder are doing a special 700-copy facsimile-signed and slipcased edition of Stephen King’s new standalone Dark Tower novel, The Wind Through The Keyhole and the good news is we’ve snagged 400 copies for our customers! Whoo hoo!

How would you like to read Wind Through the Keyhole in February? As you know both Scribner and Hodder & Stoughton’s editions of the book is set to be released on April 24th. Well, I don’t know about you but I’d love the chance to read the book before that. And one of you will be able to do that. On February 29th I will draw one lucky winner that will get an artist edition from Donald M. Grant. This edition is produced in 5,000 copies and signed by Jae Lee and issued in a stamped slipcase (retail price is $75.00). And, remember that as far as we know today Grant’s edition is the only edition that has both the color and black & white illustrations.

Well, what do you have to do to get the chance to win this beautiful book then? It’s easy, there are two steps you have to complete.

Remember the poll on King’s site about who we wanted to do the illustrations for The Wind Through the Keyhole? Well, I heard today that King wanted Lee from the get go and it was a misunderstanding that the poll was done to decide who the artist was going to be as that decision was already made. Also, Lee's wife did the coloring for the book.

We will be producing a slipcase for the Scribner Trade Edition which will match the three slipcases we produced for the first seven Dark Tower books:

The moderator of King’s message board confirmed today that there won’t be any illustrations in Scribner’s edition of Wind Through the Keyhole. I have no idea why that is though since there have been illustrations in the previous seven Dark Tower books…

It's only 4½ month to the release of Wind Through the Keyhole (about 2½ if you count down to the release of Grant's limited edition) and to whet your appétit, here is a description of the book...

The Wind Through the Keyhole

For readers new to Stephen King's epic 7-volume fantasy masterpiece The Dark Tower, The Wind Through the Keyhole is a stand-alone novel, and a wonderful introduction to the series. It is an enchanting Russian doll of a novel, a story within a story within a story, which features both the younger and older Roland Deschain – Mid-World's last gunslinger – on his quest to find the Dark Tower.

For the legions of fans, it is a gift of deeper insight and a chance to discover what happened to Roland and his ka-tet between the time they leave the Emerald City and arrive on the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis.

We join Roland and his ka-tet as a ferocious storm halts their progress along the Path of the Beam. As they shelter from the screaming wind and snapping trees, Roland tells them not just one strange tale, but two – and in doing so sheds fascinating light on his own troubled past.

In his early days as a gunslinger, in the guilt ridden year following his mother's death, Roland is sent by his father to a ranch to investigate a recent slaughter. Here Roland discovers a bloody churn of bootprints, clawed animal tracks, terrible carnage – evidence that the 'skin-man', a shape shifter, is at work. There is only one surviving witness: a brave but terrified boy called Bill Streeter.

Roland, himself only a teenager, calms the boy by reciting a story from the Book of Eld that his mother used to read to him at bedtime, 'The Wind through the Keyhole.' 'A person's never too old for stories,' he says to Bill. 'Man and boy, girl and woman, we live for them.'

And stories like these, they live for us.

Donald M. Grant sent out a newsletter just not and there where some interesting news about the limited edition of The Wind Throught the Keyhole

- We are currently scheduled to release the Limited Editions in February 2012. Our edition will have 6 full color plates and 11 Black & White illustrations by acclaimed artist Jae Lee. One of the Black & Whites is available for viewing at:

- Stephen King has agreed to sign only 800 copies of a Deluxe Edition. In keeping with our policies of supporting long time customers, owners of Deluxe Edition copies of THE LITTLE SISTERS OF ELURIA numbered 1-800 will have the first option to buy this Deluxe Edition.

We will initially have a “postcard lottery” for unclaimed copies (which we expect to be very few) eligible for those who have a Deluxe Edition of LSOE numbered higher than 800.

- There will be a 5,000 copy limited “Artist” Edition which will be signed by Jae Lee and will be issued in a slipcase. There will be no limitation for purchasing this edition.

- Scribner has announced their release of a trade hardcover edition of THE DARK TOWER: THE WIND THROUGH THE KEYHOLE on April 3, 2012.

We will be producing a slipcase for the Scribner Trade Edition which will match the three slipcases we produced for the first seven Dark Tower books.
