In regards to my post from yesterday about that King and Straub hope to write The Talisman 3 next year I want to make it extra clear that it’s their PLAN to do it but it’s NOT set in stone yet and as everyone who has ever made plans to do something know…it’s not always the plan work as you had hoped. Before they can start they will have to coordinate their schedules and so far nothing has been written. So let’s hope they can work their schedule out and once they do I bet it will be info about it on both authors website.
Later this week issue #0 of The Talisman comic is released and as most of you probably already know Robin Furth has a pretty big part in it. I got a chance to talk to her about it and here is what she had to say.
The moderator of King's board had the following to say about the third Talisman book:
Steve told me this morning that he and Peter are looking at starting this in two years as that's about how long it will take each of them to clear their schedules of the projects they are working on now.
Here is the variant cover for issue #1 of The Road of Trials. It's being released on November 18, 2009.
Del Rey Comics announced exclusively to Newsarama Thursday that they've secured Mike "Gabe" Krahulik, one-half of the team behind the very popular Penny Arcade webcomic, to provide a special variant cover to the publisher's October-debuting adaptation of the Stephen King-Peter Straub novel The Talisman, and Newsarama has a special exclusive preview of the cover.
Here are the latest news about The Talisman comic:
- The plan is to have 6 issues in the first arc.
- The title of the first arc will be The Road of Trials.
- The plan is to do two more arcs of the same length (but that might change).
- There will be a month gap between each story arc.

Here is a press release and the cover for issue 0 of The Talisman comic. The first issue is to be released on October 21 and a special issue at Comic-Con in July.
King's official now has pictures of three new characters from The Talisma comic. They are Lily Cavanaugh, Jack Sawyer and Phil sawyer. Check them out here.
Before The Talisman comic starts there will be an issue 0. This will be an episode that does not appear in the book itself, but serves as a prequel to the whole story.
New York Comic Con is over and even though news about new King stuff isn’t flooding the net I managed to find this illustration of Morgan Sloat from The Talisman.
Today Del Ray announced who's doing what with The Talisman comic. Here are their press release:

His clients have included Coca-Cola, Nascar, Hasbro, DC Comics, Wildstorm, Top Cow, Dark Horse, Virgin, Boom Studios, and Image Comics, among many others. Lettering and project management will be handled by Dabel Brothers Publishing. The first issue of the monthly comic is planned for early fall 2009.
Originally published in 1984, The Talisman is the story of a young teen named Jack Sawyer, who can save his dying mother only by retrieving a magical talisman. To find it he must cross back and forth between our world and the frightening and dangerous landscape of its “twinner” counterpart. Both The Talisman and its sequel, Black House, are in print with Ballantine Books. Television rights to The Talisman are under development by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy.

It looks like The Talisman is the next King book to become a comic...
Del Rey, an imprint of Random House US’ Ballantine Books, has acquired the comic book and graphic novel rights to The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. A monthly comic, with “at least 24 issues”, is planned for late summer/early fall 2009.
“Illustrating The Talisman in the depth that it deserves will involve at least 24 issues of comics, probably more,” said Del Rey editor in chief, Betsy Mitchell, who acquired the project from agent Ralph Vicinanza. “It’s a tremendously visual story, filled with images that burn in memory long after the book has been closed.”
