Tommyknockers Remake?

Variety reports that a movie version of The Tommyknockers is in the making over at Universal.

Jeremy Slater has been tapped to adapt “The Tommyknockers” for Universal Pictures, Variety has learned. The Stephen King adaptation is being produced by James Wan and Michael Clear, the team behind “The Nun” and “Annabelle: Creation,” and “It’s” Roy Lee.

Variety reports that a new movie based on The Tommyknockers is in the making.

Stephen King’s “The Tommyknockers” is being developed as a movie by producers James Wan and Roy Lee.

Wan, who’s directing “Aquaman” and produces “The Conjuring” franchise, will produce through his Atomic Monster company. Lee, whose credits include “It,” the Lego movies, and “The Departed,” will produce through Vertigo Entertainment. The duo has teamed up with Larry Sanitsky, who executive produced the 1993 ABC miniseries adaptation of “The Tommyknockers,” starring Jimmy Smits and Marg Helgenberger.

The producers began shopping the package to studios through Paradigm on Thursday.

NBC announced today that they will have ordered a new version of King's Tommyknockers

King's Tommyknockers is based on the author's 1987 novel about the residents of a small Maine town and how they deal with what they perceive to be an alien spacecraft that has landed nearby. Frank Konigsberg and Larry Sanitsky will executive produce, while Emmy winner Yves Simoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) will direct.
